Bible Story of the Day Moses

The entire Bible is a revelation about Jesus Christ. From beginning to end, Jesus can be found in the text within. Seeing Jesus in scripture is a major step into understanding who our God is, and how He impacts and affects our lives in every moment. My desire through this Bible story of the day project is to show you the reference to Jesus in the Old Testament, and how the story can impact your life. My references will be posted at the bottom along with links that can help you dive deeper into the story than what I have done here. Open your heart and mind and be willing to accept scripture for what it says. If you don’t understand a story or verse or how it applies to your life, then pray to God for clarity and understanding. I pray this helps and affects your life and you have a better understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Moses
Exodus 32:30-35
30 On the next day Moses said to the people, “You yourselves have committed a great sin; and now I am going up to the Lord, perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.” 31 Then Moses returned to the Lord, and said, “Alas, this people has committed a great sin, and they have made a god of gold for themselves. 32 But now, if You will, forgive their sin—and if not, please blot me out from Your book which You have written!” 33 The Lord said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book. 34 But go now, lead the people where I told you. Behold, My angel shall go before you; nevertheless in the day when I punish, I will punish them for their sin.” 35 Then the Lord smote the people, because of what they did with the calf which Aaron had made. (NASB).
Moses was the shepherd for the Israelites. They followed him out of captivity in Egypt, and through the wilderness for 40 years, and ultimately to the doorstep of the promised land. Moses was the man that was the connection to God. The people of Israel did not speak to God directly, but Moses did for them. In this story, Moses tells the people what they have done wrong, similar to the conviction of the Holy Spirit, then he goes before God and pleads for their behalf. Moses does not want them destroyed for their wrong-doings, but also understands God’s righteousness and the shortcomings of the Israelites. Moses then offers himself as the sacrifice for their punishment. Moses represents Jesus in this passage by being the only one that can go before God on our behalf and offer Himself as a sacrifice for the wrongs that we have done against God. This is representative of Jesus dying on the cross for our sins.
What does this mean for us? It means that Jesus has willingly taken the punishment for your sins against God. Since the payment of those sins has been made on your behalf, you are free and clear. Jesus gives us the opportunity to have a right relationship with God, just as Adam and Eve did before the Fall. The Holy Spirit will convict you of your sins. That means He will let you know when you are wrong. You then are given the opportunity to repent of those ways by changing what you are doing. You have already been forgiven for those sins when Jesus died for them 2000 years ago. We must accept the gift of freedom that Jesus gave us to have an eternal life with God. Jesus is the only way, and He has already paved that way for us. We only must accept what He is freely offering.
Our debt has been paid. Jesus has saved us from death as the punishment for our sins. It is up to you whether you believe and accept the gift or not. Jesus has already decided; have you?
