Prophecy in the Psalms: The Years 2037–2043

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Discussing current events and how they relate to Biblical prophesy. What are some critical signs are pointing to the imminent Rapture of the Church?

For centuries, believers have turned to the Psalms as a treasury of worship, lament, and encouragement. But in the late 20th century, J.R. Church’s book Prophecy in the Psalms raised a bold claim: what if the Psalms are not just timeless songs, but also a prophetic calendar — one psalm for every year beginning with 1901?

By this reckoning, Psalm 1 would correspond to 1901, Psalm 48 to 1948 (the rebirth of Israel), and Psalm 137 to the year 2037. The sequence would conclude with Psalm 150 in the year 2050. That places Psalms 137–143 squarely within 2037–2043 — years that, in this interpretive scheme, align with the seven-year Tribulation. Psalms 144–150, then, would represent the victorious Kingdom age, 2044–2050.

The “Tribulation Psalms” (137–143)

The content of these psalms is striking. They are filled with imagery of exile, persecution, oppression, and desperate prayer for deliverance.

4-horsemen
  • Psalm 137 (2037): Captives weep by the rivers of Babylon, crying for Zion. Parallels Revelation 17–18’s lament over Babylon the Great.

  • Psalm 138 (2038): “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve my life.” Echoes the preservation of the faithful in Revelation 12.

  • Psalm 139 (2039): God’s omnipresence — even in Sheol. Parallels martyrs in Revelation 6:9–11.

  • Psalm 140 (2040): Prayer for deliverance from “violent men.” Strongly echoes the Antichrist’s reign in Revelation 13.

  • Psalm 141 (2041): “Keep me from the snares they have laid for me.” Resonates with Revelation 14’s call to resist the Beast’s deception.

  • Psalm 142 (2042): Cry from the cave: “No one cares for my soul… bring me out of prison.” Matches Revelation 12:17’s image of God’s people hunted and hidden.

  • Psalm 143 (2043): “The enemy has pursued my soul… my spirit faints within me.” This parallels Revelation 7:14’s description of saints emerging from the Great Tribulation.

In this reading, Psalms 137–144 form a seven-year arc of suffering that resonates with the imagery of the Tribulation in Revelation.

The “Victory Psalms” (144–150)

The final psalms shift tone dramatically. Instead of lament and desperate prayer, they resound with praise, restoration, and the glory of God’s eternal reign.

Jesus second coming ani
  • Psalm 144 (2044): Prayer for deliverance turns to triumph: “Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.” This matches Revelation 19’s climactic victory when Christ returns.
  • Psalm 145 (2045): God’s “everlasting kingdom” — the start of Christ’s Millennial reign (Revelation 20:4).

  • Psalm 146 (2046): Trust not in princes, but in the LORD — a reminder that God rules justly.

  • Psalm 147 (2047): “The LORD builds up Jerusalem.” Mirrors Zechariah 14’s restored worship in Jerusalem.

  • Psalm 148 (2048): All creation is summoned to praise the LORD.

  • Psalm 149 (2049): The saints rejoice while judgment falls on nations. Parallels Revelation 20: the nations subdued under Christ.

  • Psalm 150 (2050): Crescendo of universal worship: “Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.” This points to Revelation 21–22, where eternal praise fills the New Creation.

The arc from Psalms 137–150 thus mirrors the eschatological drama: Tribulation → Return of Christ → Millennium → Eternal Praise.

A Timeline from 2037–2050

If this interpretive scheme is correct, here is how the final psalms line up:

  • 2037–2043 (Psalms 137–143): The seven years of Tribulation.

  • 2044–2050 (Psalms 144–150): The Millennial victory and entry into eternal praise.

This doesn’t mean the Psalms are a literal coded calendar. Scripture itself doesn’t state that. But typologically, the resonance is compelling. The Psalms naturally progress from lament in exile, through cries for deliverance, into climactic praise. Revelation tells the same story on a cosmic scale.

Final Thoughts

Whether one accepts J.R. Church’s psalm-year timeline or not, the closing psalms do embody the pattern of biblical prophecy:

  • Suffering gives way to deliverance.

  • Tribulation precedes triumph.

  • The laments of the faithful become eternal songs of praise.

For believers, the study of Psalms 137–150 in light of Revelation is not just a speculative calendar but a reminder of hope: history is moving toward God’s Kingdom, where every tear will be wiped away, and every voice will join in praise.

If you are not sure that you are saved, you can accept Christ into your life right now, by praying:

“Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.  Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life.  I ask you into my life and heart to be my Lord and Savior.”
