The Book of Revelation tells us about the events that will happen in the Tribulation which we are on the verge of entering into. This is the fourth of several judgments of the earth.
The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night. Revelation 8:12
This is quite a gloomy judgment because that is what it produces. A third of the sun, moon, and stars turned dark. Something could have struck them or that expression could mean that this was deliberately done. It also makes one wonder how anyone except God could do this which gives credence to this being judgments and not natural occurrences. So far the judgments appear as though they all could happen naturally, but that is because they are more of a warning than a judgment. This is why some people will not take this seriously yet, but the judgments will get more and more severe as we will see. They are given to us as a warning so that we would repent and turn back to God and be spared. Or we can ignore the warnings and hope that we can make it through them.
