there is no work involved in NOT doing something — the “works of the Law’ is sacrificing animals to pay for your sins and animal sacrifice will never pay for even one sin.
Only that one sacrifice made by Jesus Christ can pay for our sins.
If a person returns to animal sacrifice to justify their sin — then the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is of no avail to them and they have fallen from the kindness of God the Father.
But the 40,000 flavors of christianity will never understand this fact as they want to be free from all authority — especially God’s.
First, no work precedes God’s grace. Even the giving of His law and the interpretation of it by Yeshuah our Messiah is an act of His Grace.
Second, “works of the law” refer to the pharisaic interpretation of God’s law loaded with leaven adding more to it than Yeshuah ever intended it to be. As believers we should never be afraid of doing God’s law in God’s way. We can’t be saved by doing the law but you simply aren’t saved if you are hostile to it Rom 8:5-8.
It is the grace of God that gives us the desire to want to incorporate His Law and His ways into our lives and into our walk. It is the Grace of God that gives us the desire to turn from sin and return to Him and His ways. The false gospel teaches that God’s grace does away with the law rather than establishes it. Jesus/Yeshuah says that if we ever teach someone not to observe even the smallest of God’s laws we will be least in His Kingdom. Let us not encourage others to disobey but rather to obey God’s eternal law.
