As a firefighter. I once responded on a fire, where they had secured the door in a similar manner. 2×4, secured in a bracket. The guy trying to breach the door, bounced off several times and kicked it so many times, the door literally broke in half. If you are going to do this, I would recommend two. Here is the caveat tho. If you have a fire, you will have that much more trouble getting out. Firefighters will have that much more trouble getting in to rescue you and suppress the fire. I would recommend something like this for a business, but for a home, only has an emergency backup.
