Mamdani 'Fires' NYC Workers - Bankrupt Employees Protest at City Hall, Demand Reparatioins (Video)

In this 13 March 2026 video, host Cash Jordan talks about how NYC sheds jobs and unemployed workers wonder what to do, Mayor Zohran Mamdani has plans to raise taxes on the very businesses and high earners who create the few jobs that are still in New York City. Journalistic report.includes news footage for purposes of commentary, criticism and analysis.
In November 2025, Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani requested the resignations of 179 City Hall employees from the outgoing administration of Mayor Eric Adams as part of a standard mayoral transition. The requests primarily affected political appointees in City Hall, including staff in communications, intergovernmental affairs, and the offices of deputy mayors. The Mamdani transition team characterized the move as a standard practice to build a team that can deliver on the new administration’s agenda.
While there have been various protests at City Hall during Mamdani’s tenure—including those related to anti-Muslim sentiment, federal immigration actions, and police brutality—there is no official record of a ‘raid’ conducted by bankrupt former city workers demanding reparations. Note that Mamdani has appointed prominent reparations advocate Darrick Hamilton to his economic team, which may be the source of the ‘reparations’ terminology in the headlines.
