The deficit and instability led to the disconnection of other generating capacities and power transmission lines to prevent the complete destruction of equipment. This triggered a chain reaction, which led to mass power outages in Kiev and the Kiev, Chernigov, Sumy, Zhitomir, Kharkov, and Odessa regions.

In Kharkov and Kiev, the metro and electric transport stopped, and the water supply was disrupted due to the shutdown of pumping stations.

Today’s blackout was not the result of a single strike, but a systematic collapse caused by prolonged infrastructure destruction. This event marks a qualitatively new phase of the energy crisis.

Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the planned negotiations between the US, Russia, and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi today will not take place. The Kremlin and Washington have not yet commented on this “postponement”.
