I reported earlier on how former Obama Secretary of Defense Robert Gates gave the host of “Face the Nation,” Margaret Brennan, a real lesson about how the National Security Council doesn’t get to dictate to the president. They’re supposed to advise him and be loyal to his policies. That’s perfectly normal. The intel community doesn’t set policy; the president does. The bureaucracy doesn’t control policy in the Executive Branch – the president does.
