I like Ike!

Note:  Liberals may want to avoid reading this as facts are to Liberals as Holy Water, Christian Crosses, Garlic and wooden stakes are to Vampires.  Just saying!

Dwight David Eisenhower as United Stated Military Cadet – He served – Barack Hussein Obama hasn’t served and by his own admission was a legendary pot smoker at the time in his life!

To see Barack Hussein Obama go about his braggart style, his obsequious followers, his obfuscations and misuse of facts, deceits and out and out lies, it is nice to look back that a man that was quite the opposite.  A man who got real results day in and day out and without a fawning press corps, or a horde of  “free loaders” voting for him for the freebies.

Forget the Ike and the war.  Just look at civil rights. 

First you have to know that Dwight David Eisenhower had a strong innate sense of justice passed down to him from his parents.  The scales of justice were well balanced in his viewpoint.  Secondly, he was dismissive of, and refused to make empty gestures, designed to make him or a certain policy look good, but achieve little or no results.

Case in point:  Harry S Truman (his middle name was “S” and according to him not followed by a period) desegregated the military in 1948.  That’s what the Democrats would have us to believe and they still make that false claim today.  The facts are that when Eisenhower took office as President the military was still segregated.  In Ike’s first weeks in office he made it clear “there must be no second class citizens in this country!”

He was determined “to clear out segregation wherever federal money was involved!”  These were not empty gestures; these would be real actions, not presented to the press for self-serving acclamation, but orders given because it was the right thing to do.

Instead of making news with a self serving proclamation, Ike merely ordered all military facilities completely repainted with the word “Colored” obliterated and never re-lettered, thus ending segregation on military facilities immediately.  No press, no press conferences, no big deal. 

Further, at the time Ike took office, Washington, D.C. was as segregated as any city in all of the south.  He immediately removed the ban on Black Bus and Street Car Drivers in the city and arm twisted the C&P Telephone Company to begin hiring Black Telephone Operators.  Following this was restaurants, lunch counters, hotels and movie theaters and police and fire departments.  And finally he attacked all interstate transportation facilities and companies operating out of Washington and anywhere federal money was involved.  No press, no press conferences, no empty gestures.  

Dwight David Eisenhower never got any credit for any of these things!

In 1953, Herbert Brownell, Attorney General, acting on Ike’s behest as a friend of the court filed a brief with the Supreme Court contending that the Fourteenth Amendment prohibited segregated public schools and that the Supreme Court had the power to uphold this opinion.  On May 17, 1954, the Supreme Court ruled that segregated public schools were unconstitutional.  Ike did not make empty gestures and later sent the Army to Alabama to enforce the Supreme Court’s decision. 

Neither Dwight David Eisenhower or the Republican Party gets any credit for this today.

On September 9, 1957 the Civil Rights Act both proposed and carefully crafted by Dwight David Eisenhower (not a bunch of  bureaucrats and sycophants who throw in the kitchen sink as ObamaCare was) as a matter of justice.  This was the first real, non-empty gesture, effort to create equality of the vote and in the life of all Americans. 

It is important to note that Lyndon B. Johnson opposed this legislation, and due to the inordinate power he possessed at the time, gutted many key provisions much diminishing the final Bill Ike had proposed.  When the bill arrived at the Senate, Johnson sent it to the Judiciary Committee led by James Eastland of Mississippi, who proceeded to alter it beyond recognition.  Johnson then sought recognition from civil rights activist for passing it, and from segregationist Democrats for gutting it, all at the same time. 

Never-the-less, the Bill was a stake in the heart of the segregationist Democrat Party at the time.  It was not an empty gesture as Dwight David Eisenhower did not do empty gestures!

Dwight David Eisenhower was a man, a true American, an American Patriot, honest to the core, and totally void of self-serving empty gestures.  He truly reshaped not only America but the World.  He didn’t do it with empty speeches, delivering the same “Tripe”

over and over to a bunch of school kids, welfare recipients, grievance groups, and sycophants, but with real actions based on justice to all.  He did it without the press being his mouthpiece and television networks carrying his flag against all common sense.  And most of all, he never blatantly lied to the American people nor allowed his cabinet to do so.

As I postscript I point out that Dwight David Eisenhower came from a poor Kansas family, one of six boys, only one of which could the family afford to send to college.  They were much poorer than the families of either Barack Hussein Obama or Michelle Robinson Obama who were fairly well to do.  Ike went to West Point as his only means of getting a college education and growing up never intended to be a military man as his mother was dead set against war and the military.  Yet compare Ike’s parents to Obama’s hero, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr.:

“Bring down all the rich guys by the power of the state, confiscate their land, property, raise taxes as high as you want – 100% if necessary, and obtain their wealth through fiat and legislative piracy. The rationale is that the wealth is not rightfully theirs, in the first place, but had been ripped off from the poor.”
