“In Peter Singer’s universe, there are no rights for anyone,” Scott Walter, former Special Assistant for Domestic Policy to President George W. Bush, told The Post. “In fact, there is no right and wrong. There are only the interests that are claimed or the goals that we set,” said Walter, who is now president of the think tank, Capital Research Center.

“Peter Singer is completely clear. Animals are often superior to humans or at least to the humans that he would be happy to have euthanized,” said Walter. “The passage from Singer says, ‘We’re going to kill the hemophilic kid, so that the next kid can have a better life,’” Walter said. What makes the comparison all the more tragic is that Singer is a descendant of Holocaust victims, having lost three grandparents in the Nazi deathcamps, Walter points out.

“Postmodern atheist types are often in search of meaning; effective altruism gives them a way to find that meaning without actually defending the claim that right and wrong exist,” Capital Research Center investigative researcher Parker Thayer told The Post.

“That’s essentially, I think, one of the reasons why it was so appealing,” added Thayer, describing the movement as “reductionist” and a “doomsday cult.”

Titled “How Radical Environmental Special Interests Manipulate the Federal Judiciary,” the interim staff report released Wednesday by the House Judiciary Committee shows how the leftist Environmental Law Institute (ELI) and its Climate Judiciary Project (CJP) seek to influence federal and state judges on so-called “climate science” in future related litigation. As reported by the Capital Research Center, ELI is heavily bankrolled by the Democrats’ dark money network.

“The 990s of this organization are extremely suspicious,” said Parker Thayer, who is with The Capital Research Center, a nonprofit organization that focuses on how other nonprofits spend money.

Parker is responding to what Project Baltimore found in federal nonprofit filings, known as 990s, for the Baltimore based organization, KEYS Empowers. “I’ve seen 990 like this before,” said Thayer. “It never ends well.”

“There is pretty much every red flag you could imagine on this 990,” stated Thayer. “There will have to be a full investigation, and everyone is presumed innocent. But so far, I think some of this money might have gone to the wrong pockets,” said Thayer.

“You’ve got Center for American Progress developing policy—that’s what they do,” Watson said. “Then you’ve got Emily’s List activating women on abortion, because that’s what they do. Then National Action Network, you’ve got the Al Sharpton patronage network and identity politics for African-Americans in New York City.” As for the Clinton Foundation, Watson noted that AFT President Randi Weingarten has had a close relationship with Hillary Clinton, and the AFT became the first major national union to endorse Clinton in the 2016 primary.

“This is what being part of a coalition means,” he added. “It means you go scratch everybody’s back in the hope that when they’re in a position of influence and authority, they can scratch yours.”

France is engulfed in violence more reminiscent of a third-world nation than a Western epicenter of art and high culture. For France, it has been a slow burn, with roots that stretch back decades.

Riots erupted in the Paris region in late September. They have since spread nationwide. Thousands have been arrested, and hundreds have been injured as businesses burned and schools throughout the nation closed their doors.

Rioters carry the flags not of France, but of other nations and terror groups from the Arab world. In Marseille, they were filmed riding motorcycles through the city center, carrying Algerian and Palestinian flags.

Riots have engulfed French streets in recent weeks. Thousands have been arrested, and hundreds of businesses and schools have been burned down or forced to close their doors. Mere days before the violence erupted, when French President Emmanuel Macron took the dais at the United Nations, he didn’t rail against the burdensome regulations or the nihilism that has left his nation and others on the continent fractured and lagging in economic growth and political freedom. Instead, Macron spent an inordinate amount of time condemning Israel.

The break was sudden. Days before the 1967 Six-Day War, while Egypt, Syria, and other nations were massing for an attack on Israel, France canceled weapons shipments to the Jewish state. At the time, Israelis were digging mass graves in public parks in the expectation that they would be slaughtered.

France is perpetually beset with internal divisions and rioting, and its economy is in the doldrums, having been plagued by slow growth and burdensome regulations. Fixating on the world’s sole Jewish state has been, at best, a catastrophic distraction. The country offers a cautionary tale about how anti-Israel obsession only fuels the fires of extremism. Those in the remaining vestiges of the West should take heed.
