Netherlands: Feminicide: Body Found in Woods Likely That of Missing Syrian Woman
In a case of apparent femicide, the body of a female has been found in the woods near the Dutch town of Almere. It is believed to be that of a 24-year-old Syrian woman who was reported missing last week. Police are now searching for a 34-year-old Syrian man, identified only as Omar A. In the woods west of Almere, a dead person has been found. The police strongly believe that it is the missing 24-year-old woman from Syria. The police think that the person discovered died as a result of a crime.

That is the preliminary conclusion after an hours-long investigation by the police in Almere Poort. The body was discovered near Homeruspad by an observant passerby, police spokesperson Ellemijn Pinkse reports. That was around noon. “We have strong suspicions and indications that she died as the result of a crime.”
Since the discovery, forensic investigators, among others, have been conducting an investigation in the woods.

The police are searching for a suspect. The search is still focused on the gray Peugeot belonging to the 34-year-old Syrian, Omar A. The 24-year-old woman of Syrian origin was last seen with him.
That was Thursday of last week, near the Albert Heijn (supermarket), also in Almere Poort. The police sounded the alert because of a great concern for her safety.
She got into a gray Peugeot SW with license plate 36-LH-RN near the supermarket. That is close to the location where the police investigation is focused.
