Europe’s Descent Into Darkness

It is kind of nervy for Europe to question our willingness to aid in their defense when we pay the lion’s share of the cost while they continually antagonize other nuclear powers near and far and use the US as their ‘big bad brother’ that they assume will safeguard their numerous indiscretions and recklessness.

Vice President Vance asked a similar question in a speech not long ago. As it turns out, we can ask the same question in many parts of the world. The Middle East and North Africa are the least free, but it is downright alarming to see Europe descending into a collection of totalitarian states.

Ukraine was a war that didn’t have to happen. After the USSR dissolved, Russia asked to join NATO. We said NO! The West, instead, clearly assured Russia it would not expand NATO eastward; we did. Russia asked that the West cease building alliances along their borders; again, we did.

The Ukraine War was never about freedom; it was about defense contractors, preserving a money laundromat for oligarchs, Ukraine’s leaders buying mansions in other countries with the money we gave them, a place to experiment on bio-weapons when you can’t do it at home, and another war to please the globalist fanatics that believe the planet is over-populated. It was not just Europe in the wrong; it was also about Obama, Hillary, and Biden taking their turns, poking the bear…Russia, Russia, Russia. Hundreds of thousands of innocent people are now dead, and Ukraine is in ruins. Hundreds of billions of tax dollars were spent. And we’ve once again come close to WW3. And they don’t care. Yes, it’s that bad.

What Russia wanted then and now was to preserve the buffer between the West and Russia and maintain a neutral Ukraine. It was promised by NATO but never delivered. What NATO, the Democrats, and neoconservatives want is to destroy Russia. That’s not going to happen…not a country with thousands of nuclear warheads. If we were to destroy them, they would have plenty of company. We either learn to live together or we all die.

Has anyone thought to ask why the news media presents only one side of the story concerning the Ukraine War? This is not a pro-Russia stance. It is a position of preserving peace throughout the world. We are well past the era of winners and losers.

A British Army veteran was arrested and taken into custody last October for silently praying about a block away from an abortion clinic in the UK. The man was convicted and sentenced to a conditional discharge of the crime if he doesn’t repeat the offense within the next two years but must pay court costs in the amount of about $12,000. In its ruling, the court found that he was standing with his head slightly bowed with his hands clasped, which amounted to disapproval of abortion…a thought crime in Britain?

British police from Manchester recently visited a 54-year-old school administrator and grandmother at her home to give her official ‘advice’ after criticizing left-wing politicians on social media.

Germany classified critics of Chancellor Merkel’s migrant policies as offenses, while incitement to actual violence and murder against Jews and Israelis by Palestinians was considered as conforming to Facebook’s community standards.

It has been well reported that the Netherlands is working to forcibly close thousands of farms to cut nitrogen emissions to meet climate goals. Property rights have been in decline all over the world. It is important to note that property rights were one of the main causes of the American Revolution.

Europe, these last few decades, has been descending into a sort of globalist autocracy. Much of Europe, dictated to by the World Economic Forum (WEF), the EU, and the UN, has imposed climate laws that lack scientific legitimacy. The EU was plunged into spyware scandals in 2022 with the surveillance of politicians and journalists in Spain, Poland, Hungary, and Greece.

Much of the turmoil and confusion probably stems from a European society that is in the last throes of evolving from a Christian ethic to a secular one. The globalist movement in Western countries is determined to remove Christianity from the culture.

George Washington, in his farewell address, warned our new nation to avoid foreign entanglements. He knew Europe had a propensity for war. Washington urged Americans to remember that 1) their government was of their creation. 2) Groups, both foreign and domestic, will doubt representative democracy and attempt to undermine it. 3) Regional infighting will be the death of the nation. And in a most solemn manner, Washington pleaded against forming political parties…that they will cause dissension.

Admittedly, the United States has seen a loss of freedom, especially during the last several Democrat and neo-conservative administrations. Censorship, surveillance, election fraud, lawfare, and corruption have all steered America in a frightening direction. A state representative in Maine received censure on Tuesday for opposing the governor’s support of transgenderism. Today’s Democrats are naturals for autocracy.

By God’s grace, we have dodged a sizable bullet with the election of Trump.

What I see is the political left in America, as Washington cautioned, becoming an unwilling political partner in democracy, along with its pillars, religion, and morality. They no longer seem inclined to depend on elections and fair play to further their agenda and at the same time bitterly complain that Republicans are destroying our long-held democratic institutions. Dissension for the sake of dissension.

Europe, like our Democrat Party, is on a neo-socialist road and shows no sign of changing direction. With socialism, personal freedoms, economic independence, and what was once democracy will be done away with as more and more is confiscated for the ‘common good.’

It’s a dark road to a dark place for Europe. Someone, please turn the lights on.
