Sweden: The Motive Behind that Mass Murder

Information on the Swedish school shooting is coming out in drips from the authorities and media. Today most of the Swedish press is reporting that all 10 victim fatalities have been identified, but only gender and age are provided. They consist of 7 women and 3 men all adults and mostly middle-aged. One is a Syrian, and one is a Bosnian. To date, I have only seen one victim identified by name (Middle Eastern).

While some Swedish media still report that the motive is unclear, there is little doubt. Now TV4 (Sweden) has released a videotape taken by a survivor with his cell phone while he was hiding in a toilet until he was rescued by police. Numerous gunshots can be clearly heard, and at one point, there is a voice in Swedish, which TV-4 enhanced. The voice (presumably from the killer, Rickard Andersson) says, “You (all)  are going to leave Europe!”

This leaves no doubt as to the motive of the shooter. Yet even the TV4 article repeats the statement that the motive is still unclear!

It needs to be repeated here once again that while I have regularly reported on the imported crime problem in Sweden and the rest of Western Europe, this act must be condemned. It takes its place among the atrocities committed in New Zealand against two mosques in Christchurch and the mass murder by Norwegian, Anders Breivik in Norway. This is not the way to deal with the problems of migrant crime, Islamic extremism, drug gangs, and the like. 

It is the government that must deal with this problem. As we know, they have failed to do so. So now we have unhinged people taking it all into their own hands and killing people who are entirely innocent. In the case of Breivik, he killed no Muslim immigrants, but that was the cause of his anger. Incredibly, he may be paroled in a few short years after killing over 70 people!

For those of us who are writing about this overall issue, it is a reminder that we should avoid inciteful language. We will continue to raise our voices against illegal migration, crime, anti-Semitism, Islamic extremism, and jihadist terrorism. But we can never condone or ignore these kinds of attacks against innocent victims. Thanks to its feckless government, Sweden has a terrible problem on its hands. It is they who must solve the problem, and if they are unable or unwilling, new leaders must be elected. 

But this week’s attack in Sweden was just plain evil.
