The Chapin High School Girls Lacrosse team soared to victory, clinching the class 5A state championship in a thrilling match against Fort Mill. With a commanding 13-4 win at W.C. Hawkins Stadium on April 27th, the Eagles secured their second state title, repeating their triumph over Fort Mill from the 2019 championship and concluding another stellar season.
For Chapin head coach Raven Thomas, this achievement marks the realization of a long-held aspiration since assuming leadership of the program after their initial title win. “I am over the moon ecstatic for this team,” Coach Raven Thomas expressed. “We’ve been cultivating something extremely special here at Chapin since these seniors were freshmen, and we knew this year was it.”
Thomas emphasized the team’s unwavering dedication and hard work, highlighting their undefeated season and the rigorous schedule they faced. “We stepped onto the field this year with the confidence that this was our year to win it all,” she affirmed. The coach also lauded the invaluable contributions of the graduating seniors, whose commitment and leadership played a pivotal role in the team’s success.
Chapin High School Principal Ed Davis echoed the sentiments of pride and admiration for the team’s remarkable achievement. “Their work ethic, commitment, and Chapin toughness were on full display Saturday,” Davis remarked. “This is an awesome achievement for Chapin High, the community, and our district!”
With this victory marking Chapin’s fourth state title appearance since 2019, the team’s exceptional performance exemplifies the spirit of determination and excellence that defines Chapin athletics. As Principal Davis aptly summarized, “We aRe CHAPIN! Light the Fire!”
