Elon Musk pokes fun at the Hamptons’ bad internet service

Reports suggest that Elon Musk was a surprise guest at Michael Milken’s annual Hamptons Prostate Cancer Foundation gala over the weekend. During the event, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO reportedly poked fun at the subpar cellular service in the Hamptons. 

Citing one of its “spies,” Page Six claimed that Musk criticized the cellular service in the Hamptons during a one-on-one chat with Milken. During the conversation, Musk was asked about Starlink’s success, which prompted the CEO to mention just how bad the reception was at the event’s location. 

“One of the highlights of Milken’s wide ranging one-on-one chat with Elon was when (Musk was) asked about the success of Starlink, he talked about how bad cell service was in the Hamptons,” one of Page Six‘s spies claimed. 

“I had important texts to respond to on the way here and couldn’t… people were asking where I was, Timbuktu?” Musk reportedly said, as per the entertainment publication. 

Musk’s critique about the subpar cell service at the Hamptons may be justified, considering that SpaceX’s Starlink is providing reliable high-speed internet service to some of the world’s most remote areas. These include Antarctica in the South Pole, which now has high-speed internet thanks to Starlink. 

The Hamptons Prostate Cancer Foundation gala featured a number of notable guests, including Elon Musk’s mother, Maye Musk. Interestingly enough, one of the publication’s spies also claimed that Musk got a standing ovation from the gala’s attendees and that the CEO “wanted to “die in a capsule off the coast of Mars.”

In a comment to Page Six, Musk noted that the publication’s spies do not seem to be the best. He did, however, reiterate his criticism of the internet service in the Hamptons. 

“These are not the sharpest spies in the shed…. There is no ‘coast’ on Mars on which to die. Mike Milken simply read an old quote of mine where I said I would like to die (on) Mars, just not on impact. 

“My mother stayed with friends. The room I stayed in at (the) Capri was tiny — and the WiFi is in desperate need of an upgrade, along with cell service in general in the Hamptons. I haven’t been to the Hamptons in many years and was only in the area for ~24 hours at Milken’s request for his cancer charity,” Musk said.
