Cruisin' to nowhere with Wayne Dolcefino and the port authority: Featured Video

Pack your bags and get out your super-loud Hawaiian shirts: We’re going on a cruise with Wayne Dolcefino.

Well, not really. We’re only going with him as far as the Bayport Cruise Terminal, where there are no cruise ships waiting for us. Or for anyone, for that matter.

Despite the fact that $106 million in public funds went into building it, the two-year-old terminal is as quiet as a tomb, Dolcefino says. The cruise ships are still right where they used to be: Galveston.

The cruise terminal is a production of the Port of Houston Authority, whom Dolcefino recently nailed for having given the VIP treatment to Muammar Ghadafi’s son earlier this year (which was the subject of another featured video).

“When the port does something, it does it big,” former Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Paul Bettencourt said …

“What were we thinking?” we asked Bettencourt.

“When you have other people’s money, you don’t have to think,” he replied.

Dolcefino is promising more on the port authority in days to come, specifically mentioning something about a Saharan vacation. We look forward to seeing more.
