While many events are peaceful gatherings, others have escalated, leading to federal officers and Portland Police using crowd control measures, including pepper spray, tear gas, and pepper balls.
Anti-ICE demonstrations in Portland are a regular occurrence, with activists protesting immigration detentions and deportations. Tensions often escalate when protesters cross a line onto federal property or block facility access, leading to confrontations with federal agents and Portland Police.
