Culiacán, Sin.- Sara Bruna Quiñonez Estrada resigns from her position as Attorney General of the State of Sinaloa, following the scandal of irregularities detected by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) in the investigations of the Sinaloa State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) in the crime of Hector Melesio Cuén Ojeda.

It was through a statement issued by the Governor of Sinaloa Rubén Rocha Moya through his official X account where he stated the following:

“I recognize the responsible decision of Mrs. Attorney General of the State of Sinaloa, Ms. Sara Bruna Quiñonez (@quinonez_bruna), upon submitting to the

@congresosinaloa, her voluntary resignation from her post. I know that she does so honoring the honorability that characterizes her, so that the observations that the @FGRMexico has made, in relation to the investigation of the case of the murder of former rector Héctor Cuén, are fully addressed.”

The federal agents pointed out 10 inaccuracies in the local Sinaloa investigation folder after experts and analysts from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) and FGR analyzed it:

That the necropsy does not correctly establish the immediate cadaveric signs, temperature, thanatological signs, lividity, nor the correct description and evolution of the body.

• That the body has a strong hematoma in the head.
• That the body received four shots in the legs.
• That the video of the gas station has sound and only one shot can be heard.
• That the three employees of the gas station do not report hearing gunshots.
• That the physiognomy of the occupants of the van is not precisely identified.
• That there is no mechanics of the facts of the event.
• That neither the place of the facts nor the vehicle was criminally processed.
• That there are human blood stains in the bed of the van, there are neither expert reports nor determinations in this regard.  
• That all the authorities involved did not comply with the measures for the preservation of the body, allowing an incineration that is contrary to the criminalistic practices on homicide investigation.
