The former director of the Cancun jail, Fermin Cortes Burgos, was executed this Monday in Chetumal, by hired killers who opened fire on him.

The homicide took place near the Naval Zone when the former official was riding a motorcycle.

“We do not have any Code Red in Chetumal at this moment”, she clarified, when interviewed after the meeting of the Security and Justice Round Table, in which “strategic actions implemented in the construction of peace and security” were announced, attended by more than 40 businessmen from the tourism industry.

There, it was said that 252 surveillance cameras will be installed, representing an increase of 510 percent and the placement of 33 new intelligent monitoring points to strengthen security.
