Guard against breast cancer recurrence with THIS dietary approach

combat-breast-cancer-recurrence(NaturalHealth365)  The journey through conventional cancer treatments are often terrifying, with the constant fear of recurrence looming over survivors.  However, there’s hope in a new report suggesting that women who have overcome a bout with breast cancer can reduce their risk of recurrence through dietary changes.  This revelation comes after researchers analyzed 22 major studies on the subject, offering a ray of optimism to those haunted by the specter of cancer’s return.

Recurrence remains a haunting possibility for breast cancer survivors, persisting for at least five years post-treatment and sometimes even longer.  While survival rates post-treatment are quite possible, the fear of cancer’s resurgence lingers, casting a shadow over the lives of many survivors.  It’s important to note that breast cancer can also affect men, albeit less frequently, with a risk ratio of 1 in 833.  Although the analyzed studies may not have included male participants, it’s reasonable to infer that the dietary adjustments beneficial for women could also apply to men in preventing cancer recurrence.

Insights from extensive research on plant compounds and breast cancer recurrence

In collaboration with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins, researchers from cancer centers worldwide conducted an extensive analysis of 22 major studies exploring the relationship between breast cancer recurrence and increased intake of isoflavones, soy compounds present in various foods.  These studies delved into specific foods and their phytonutrients, investigating their potential to reduce the risk of breast cancer recurrence.

Among the highlighted foods were soybeans, lignans (found in nuts, seeds, and other plants), cruciferous vegetables (such as cauliflower, broccoli, and cabbage), and green tea.  Through this analysis, researchers sought to understand how certain plant compounds may influence both cancer prevention and recurrence.

Isoflavones may reduce breast cancer recurrence by 26%

The analysis linked a 26% reduction in recurrence of breast cancer to a high consumption of soy isoflavones.  They also found that high amounts of enterolactone, a substance created when the digestive system breaks down lignans, could possibly lower the risk of death from breast cancer by nearly 30% as well as a 31% reduced risk of death from any cause.

The findings regarding soy and lignan were well supported and strong enough for researchers to recommend that survivors of breast cancer incorporate these foods into their daily diets.  The data on other foods analyzed, such as green tea for the prevention of recurrence of stage 1 or 2 breast cancers, were not as strong.  However, the findings are suggestive of a potential link.

Reduce breast cancer recurrence with these diet and lifestyle choices

The research highlights the importance of consuming around 60 milligrams of soy isoflavones daily, equivalent to half a cup of cooked soybeans or three ounces of tofu, for optimal recurrence prevention.  Naturally, one should opt for organic (Non-GMO) soy products, as genetically modified (GMO) soy has been linked to potential health hazards like hormone disruption and negative impacts on reproductive health.

Furthermore, try to incorporate organic nuts, seeds like flaxseed and cashews, and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and Brussels sprouts into your daily diet to strengthen your body against cancer recurrence.  Additionally, green tea’s antioxidant properties provide potential protective effects.

Ultimately, during or after any cancer treatment, nurturing your body with these dietary adjustments isn’t just about improving your health – it could be a lifesaving measure.  Embrace a mind-body approach to wellness can help you take control of your health and well-being.  Prioritize regular exercise, quality sleep, and stress reduction techniques as part of a holistic approach to reducing breast cancer recurrence risk.
