DIRECT HIT! Israel Takes Out The Consulate Of Iran In Damascus Syria With Stunning Daylight Airstrike That Killed Top Iranian General In The Process

Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital Damascus was flattened on Monday in what Syrian and Iranian media described as an Israeli air strike, a startling apparent escalation of conflict in the Middle East that would pit Israel against Iran and its allies.

Right now, Israel is fighting wars on 3 fronts, all of them deadly serious. First, Israel is knee-deep in a battle with Hamas in Gaza that been going on for months now, and is about to escalate when the IDF moves into Rafah. Second, Israel has near-daily skirmishes with Hezbollah in Lebanon that grow more intense all the time. Lastly, Israel has been defending against Iranian terror attacks through proxies for many years now, and today it just drastically escalated.

In Damascus today, in a daring daylight attack, Israel leveled the Iranian consulate there in Syria, and in doing so killed top general Mohammad Reza Zahedi. The Jerusalem Post reports that “Zahedi is the highest-ranking Iranian killed since the current war started, even higher than Sayyed Reza Mousavi, who was killed in December. Besides his wide-ranging responsibilities for terror on Israel’s borders, he was the highest-level interlocutor for Tehran with Hezbollah.” I don’t think we will have to wait all that long until Iran responds, do you?

Iranian consulate in Damascus flattened in suspected Israeli air strike

FROM MICROSOFT START: A Lebanese security source, speaking to Reuters, said one of the dead was Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). Iranian state television said several Iranian diplomats had been killed.

The Iranian Embassy in Syria said in a statement that “F-35 planes fired six missiles at the Iranian consulate in Damascus” and that “the exact number and names of those killed will be published following the clearing-out of the rubble.”

Reuters reporters at the scene in the Mezzeh district of the Syrian capital saw smoke rising from rubble of a building that had been flattened, and emergency vehicles parked outside. An Iranian flag hung from a pole in front of the debris. The Syrian and Iranian foreign ministers were both spotted at the scene.

Israel, which has repeatedly hit Iranian targets during the six-month war in Gaza, declined to comment on the incident, following its usual practice. An Israeli military spokesperson said: “We do not comment on reports in the foreign media.”

Iran’s Tasnim news agency said five people were killed in the Israeli strike. Syria’s SANA state news agency reported an unspecified number of deaths and injuries.

Since the Iranian-backed Palestinian faction Hamas’ attack on Israel on Oct. 7, Israel has ramped up airstrikes in Syria against Lebanon’s Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia and Iran’s Guards, both of which support the government of President Bashar al-Assad. READ MORE
