Start em Sit em Week 5
At this point in the season we have enough data collected to make a reasonable assessment of where you stand in your league’s pecking order. If you are sitting comfortably in the top of the standings, your best bet is not to tinker too much with your roster. As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
If you are in the middle of the pack fighting to get into the top tier of teams, the time to be aggressive is NOW. Do not take any opportunities to improve your team via waivers lightly. Do your due diligence and make sure that you are not wasting any roster spots with deadweight players who likely will never see your starting lineup.
Now if you are currently in the bottom half or staring at a potential 5-0 start, it’s time to shake things up because your team is currently on life support. Make a bold trade to acquire players with immediate upside even if the player (s) you are acquiring have some question marks or baggage. What you have been doing clearly hasn’t been working. Push the panic button and hope for the best.
Cordarrelle Patterson – Falcons RB/WR
At the ripe old age of 30, Patterson is having a renaissance season as the number one option in the Falcons offense. In Week 4, the former return specialist and current hybrid RB/WR exploded onto the fantasy radar with a 3 TD performance against a tough Washington defense.
His recent success stems from the fact that Falcons Head Coach Arthur Smith has finally unlocked his full potential as a multifaceted chess piece that can be moved all over the field, taking advantage of favorable matchups against linebackers and safeties who simply cannot cover him once he gets the ball in open space.
In Week 5 he gets a juicy matchup against a Jets defense that has given up the most fantasy points to running backs on the year. After his huge breakout performance, you can consider Patterson as a must start in your RB2 or FLEX spots for the rest of the season.
Cordarrelle Patterson Week 5 Projection: 8 rushing attempts, 65 rushing yards,1 rushing TD, 9 targets, 7 receptions, 89 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD

Week 5 Sit ’em Chris Carson – Seahawks RB
The oft-injured Carson is dealing with a neck injury suffered in Week 4 against the 49ers, which does not bode well for his prospects coming into a Thursday night showdown with the LA Rams. He has seen his snap share drop below 50% as the Seahawks have elected to give more touches to former Raven Alex Collins who was a popular waiver wire pick this week. Facing Aaron Donald and a tenacious Rams front line, it would be smart to fade Carson until he is fully healed.
Chris Carson is shaping up to be a game-time decision for TNF, but even if he suits up and plays, I’d bench him.
Chris Carson Week 5 Projection: 9 rushing attempts, 23 rushing yards, 1 reception, 3 receiving yards, 0 TD’s
