N722BD Lear 60 Loss of Control Inflight 1 Nov 2026 (Video)

In this 2 November 2026 published video, host Juan Browne talks about the Learjet crash which just happened. On November 1, 2026, a Bombardier Learjet 60 (registration N722BD) suffered an inflight loss of control and crashed near West Palm Beach, Florida, resulting in the tragic deaths of all nine people on board. The flight had departed from Austin, Texas, earlier that afternoon.

According to preliminary data and air traffic control (ATC) recordings, the aircraft was cruising at 35,000 feet when the two-person crew encountered challenging weather. The pilot reported experiencing icing conditions and moderate turbulence at an atmospheric temperature of minus 47 degrees Celsius.

Shortly after reporting the icing conditions, the flight crew declared a “Mayday” emergency, informing controllers that the aircraft was rapidly descending out of 10,000 feet. Airframe tracking data captured a high-speed, steep dive. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigator Tom Chapman stated during a news briefing that radar data and debris field patterns indicate the aircraft began breaking up in mid-air before striking the ground. Debris from the structural failure was expected to be scattered a significant distance from the main impact site.

The main fuselage plummeted into a residential area and roadway near Cresthaven and Greenacres in Palm Beach County, Florida. The aircraft disintegrated upon impact, and an immediate post-crash fire erupted. First responders confirmed there were no survivors among the seven passengers and two crew members. Among the victims were Captain Jeff Gregory and a family of four from Texas. The NTSB is leading the active investigation to determine how the severe turbulence and structural icing contributed to the high-altitude loss of control.

It is too early to know if a black box survived, because federal investigators have not yet confirmed whether a cockpit voice recorder (CVR) was actually on board at the time of the crash. Maintenance records indicate a CVR was installed on the aircraft previously, but investigators do not know if it was still installed or present during the flight.

The impact was extremely violent, causing the Learjet 60 (often referenced in reports alongside the incident) to break apart before hitting the ground near West Palm Beach/Greenacres, Florida, and leaving a deep, water-filled crater. Black boxes are built to survive severe impacts, high temperatures, and fires, meaning that if the recorder was on board and is recovered, its armored casing is typically designed to protect the stored data even in catastrophic crashes. The NTSB is hopeful for recovery and active investigation, though officials noted that finding and extracting data from a fragmented debris field will be a major challenge.
