Atlanta, GA August 18, 2024 – chromatic black™, and and award-winning investigative journalist, Nicole Carr, along with other allies will host the fifth  “2024 & Beyond Creating Our Shared Future” – Public Education on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  The town hall addresses The Heritage Foundation’s Vision for America, Project 2025, to eliminate the Department of Education and its key programs – Title I (equal access to public education all children regardless of income), student lending and Pell Grants, government funding for children with disabilities and Title IX (gender based discrimination protections in schools).

“Project 2025 undermines the pillars of a vibrant economy by weakening the educational system that fuels skilled workforce development, stifles innovation, limits economic mobility, and erodes the foundation of social stability and global competitiveness, jeopardizing our nation’s economic future,” says Abeni Bloodworth, chief executive officer and co-founder, chromatic black™.”

“2024 & Beyond Creating Our Shared Future” – Public Education town hall highlights the need to protect diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in education, to desegregate schools, as well as prevent federal funds from being redirected to conservative religious based institutions.  Nicole Carr, an award winning investigative reporter, professor and public speaker will moderate the town hall with the following panelists:

  • Abeni Bloodworth, chief executive officer and co-founder, chromatic black™

  • Nina Perez, national campaign director, MomsRising Together & MomsRising Education Fund Moms Rising,

  • Khalilah Harris, executive vice president, program,  Center for Policing Equity and Center for American Progress

  • Congresswoman Fredricka Wilson

  • Jasmine Banks, executive director, UnKoch My Campus

  • Dr. Nina Gilbert, professional and continuing studies faculty, Morehouse College

  • Randi Weingarten, president, American Federation of Teachers (AFT)

  • Damaris Allen, executive director,  Families for Strong Public Schools

“As I began covering the anti-CRT and DEI attacks in public education years ago, I understood that we were dealing with a threat to democracy in the public education space. Much of that is laid bare in Project 2025. It’s imperative that voters understand the intricacies of this massive policy plan, much of which stands to or already has impacted progress on matters of racial equality, civil rights and access to an equitable public education,” says Nicole Carr.

Project 2025 and Its Implications

Project 2025 will eliminate equal access to public education for all children regardless of income, as well as eliminate head start and school voucher programs providing free meals for public school students.

Project 2025 will also create a parent bill of rights to ban books in school, as well as redirect federal funds from schools with books and curriculum focusing on race, racism, and sexuality.  There will be a mandatory military service exam for high school students (male and female) in public schools only, while private students will be exempt from military service.

In addition, the Project 2025 blueprint will also reverse decades of progress for environmental / climate justice, women’s reproductive, civil rights and LGBTQ+ rights and civil servants.

  • Women’s Reproductive Rights – The plan will remove protection against discrimination against women and the elimination and rejection of public health measures such as contraception and abortion as health care.

  • LGBTQ+ Rights – The plan will eliminate marriage equality, healthcare rights, as well as non-discrimination protections in education, in the workplace and in housing for LGBTQ + community.

  • Environmental/Climate Justice – The plan will dismantle environmental regulations, clean energy measures, and clean climate policies.

  • Civil Servants – The plan will have a massive purge of career civil servants and an increase in the concentration of power in the Executive Branch of the White House to consolidate an entrenched authoritarian regime.

Upcoming “2024 & Beyond: Creating Our Shared Future” town halls will focus on climate justice (September 12), immigration (September 26), and racial equity (October 24). Dates are subject to change.
