Wendy’s Just Admitted Why Everyone Hates Fast Food Now (Video)

In this 26 August 2026 published video, host Michael Bordenaro talks about how Wendy’s CEO admitted to prioritizing cost-cutting over ingredient quality, contributing to a decline in brand reputation following falling sales. The company is now working to reverse these changes to rebuild customer trust.
Following consecutive quarters of falling same-store sales and losing its position as the No. 2 U.S. burger chain to Burger King, newly appointed CEO Bob Wright announced a major strategic shift. The chain is actively reversing efficiency-driven menu downgrades to focus heavily on core food quality, consistent operations, and clear everyday value.
Reversing past cost-cutting ingredient decisions to bring back the higher-standard food quality that historically distinguished the brand. Moving away from a heavy reliance on one-off promotional tie-ins (like recent Minions or SpongeBob meals) in favor of a stable, everyday value architecture via tiered $4, $6, and $8 Biggie Deals. Deploying a brand-wide cleanliness and order-accuracy initiative to fix foundational restaurant-level customer service friction. Optimizing restaurant economics by aggressively shuttering 5-6 percent of underperforming, low-volume locations through mid-2026 to reinvest capital into highly efficient sites.
This massive operational reset follows a series of previous customer trust friction points, including a major PR backlash over a misconstrued “dynamic pricing” announcement and ongoing consumer frustration with aggressive fast-food price increases.

Across the board, all restaurants need to stop with this “fake butter spray oil” that is an all-around lousy unhealthy and cheap type of fat. Bring back natural creamery butter for those who prefer the taste of real butyric animal fat.
I am personally getting sick and tired of places that ruin their eggs and hashbrowns with the spray oil garbage product with poorest choice in seed oils.
The Wendy’s in my town closed the doors and moved out.
Before they moved, they closed the lobby and went drive through only for months
Can Wendy’s focus on core ingredient quality and everyday value successfully win back customers lost to competitors like Burger King, or has price fatigue permanently changed fast-food dining habits
I went to all of them for years except Wendy’s. Then I tried Wendy’s and realized just for a little more in price buys you a better and (dare say) a bigger burger. Square too so you get some bite out of it. I went to BK and the burger does not taste the same as the old one and it is EXPENSIVE. If they go to BK for that, it has nothing to do with price! So it shows you Wendy’s has a chance.
I also realized I had been ripped off by McDonalds for years with thin dry burgers and only sauce (after going to Wendys). Wendy’s can be No. 1 but they are NOT marketing right. It could beat McDonald’s easy and be a $250 dollar stock. I would not even list BK at the top. Maybe Jack in the Box, believe it or not or Taco Bell.
Considering what the fast food places have been putting in the food they serve, not only should they go out of business they likely should face arrest.
I haven’t eaten that garbage in years.
