Back in June 2024, John Charlesworth was found dead on his farm near Barnsley, the day before the Budget was voted on to mposed inheritance tax liabilities on farms.
The son of a farmer who took his own life over fears of an inheritance tax hike in Labour’s Budget has said his father “didn’t want the tax man to ruin his farm” and threaten its future. The farmer saw his deatch as a way to give his son the family farm without having to pay the new 20 percent increase in inheritance tax liabilities.
