China and Huewei tried to put a brave face on the original blackball listing, but that blew up yesterday with this:
ARM instructed employees to halt “all active contracts, support entitlements, and any pending engagements” with Huawei and its subsidiaries to comply with a recent US trade clampdown.
ARM’s designs form the basis of most mobile device processors worldwide.
Oops.
ARM’s “core” technology has US source content all over it and the game’s up for Huawei on this one. Without it while they can produce their existing CPUs the next and forward versions will be impossible to engineer.
