Bible Story of the Day

The entire Bible is a revelation about Jesus Christ. From beginning to end, Jesus can be found in the text within. Seeing Jesus in scripture is a major step into understanding who our God is, and how He impacts and affects our lives in every moment. My desire through this Bible story of the day project is to show you the reference to Jesus in the Old Testament, and how the story can impact your life. My references will be posted at the bottom along with links that can help you dive deeper into the story than what I have done here. Open your heart and mind and be willing to accept scripture for what it says. If you don’t understand a story or verse or how it applies to your life, then pray to God for clarity and understanding. I pray this helps and affects your life and you have a better understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ.

He is Risen

Psalm 118:15-18

The sound of joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous;
The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
¹⁶ The right hand of the Lord is exalted;
The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
¹⁷ I will not die, but live,
And tell of the works of the Lord.
¹⁸ The Lord has disciplined me severely,
But He has not given me over to death. (NASB).

Where is Jesus and What Does This Mean to Us?

No other religion in the world proclaims a god that has died and resurrected except for Christianity. Jesus Christ died on what we call “Good Friday” and rose again 3 days later. Prophecy from the Old Testament proclaims that Christ will return from death. In this passage it states that Jesus will suffer, but God will not let death win. Jesus will overcome death. David wrote Psalm 118, but as we read it, it is as if Jesus is the one speaking to us about what will happen. Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father, so this passage talks about Jesus since it says, “the right hand of the Lord is exalted”. There are so many proofs of the resurrection of Jesus by the people that saw Him after and the reaction from the Pharisees and Roman officials. One of the greatest proofs is from prophecy hundreds of years prior that explains exactly what was going to happen. There is always going to be people that doubt, even when evidence shows otherwise, this just as anything hits a point to where you just must believe.

John 11:25, “²⁵ Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; ²⁶ and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (NIV). Jesus made this statement to Martha, sister of Lazarus, prior to Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Our God, the Creator of the world, became human form to overcome the sin and death brought to all humans by a human, Adam. Jesus raised others from death and He raised Himself from death, and He will raise us from death. There is only one stipulation, and that is for you to believe. Believe that Jesus is our Savior that has risen from the dead and has paid the price for all our sins past, present, and future. We will all experience a physical death, just as Jesus, hopefully not as painful, and just as everyone before us. This physical death is necessary to shed the sinful body we have now and to be restored with a new body that is holy and righteous and sinless. This new body will be eternal.

Whether you choose to believe in Jesus and accept Him as your savior or not, you will experience a physical death. We all will go through this. One thing every religion agrees on is that we all die. You may have even seen it happen. The difference is what happens afterwards. Are your doubts so great that you are unwilling to take the chance that Jesus is who he says He is? Are you completely certain that your belief offers something better than what scripture proclaims? Forget all the social issues. Forget all the things you have heard that don’t sound right or seem to make sense. This, right now, is about you and your salvation. This is the real deal. If you are reading this your time has not come up. You still have a chance to make the right decision. Take control of your eternity. Grab hold of salvation, and then we can discuss some of these other issues. Today, this most important thing in this world is your relationship with Jesus. Jesus is patiently, lovingly waiting for you.
