Bible Story of the Day

The entire Bible is a revelation about Jesus Christ. From beginning to end, Jesus can be found in the text within. Seeing Jesus in scripture is a major step into understanding who our God is, and how He impacts and affects our lives in every moment. My desire through this Bible story of the day project is to show you the reference to Jesus in the Old Testament, and how the story can impact your life. My references will be posted at the bottom along with links that can help you dive deeper into the story than what I have done here. Open your heart and mind and be willing to accept scripture for what it says. If you don’t understand a story or verse or how it applies to your life, then pray to God for clarity and understanding. I pray this helps and affects your life and you have a better understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Esther Intercedes

¹⁵ Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai, ¹⁶ “Go, assemble all the Jews who are found in Susa, and fast for me; do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maidens also will fast in the same way. And thus, I will go in to the king, which is not according to the law; and if I perish, I perish.” ¹⁷ So Mordecai went away and did just as Esther had commanded him.

5 Now it came about on the third day that Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the king’s palace in front of the king’s rooms, and the king was sitting on his royal throne in the throne room, opposite the entrance to the palace. (NASB).

Where is Jesus and What Does This Mean to Us?

Critics of Christianity attempt to point out that Christianity is a religion that intends to suppress women, and places men as a higher position. This could not be more untrue. Men and women hold equal standings before God as both being human but have different roles to perform. Esther is one of the many women highlighted in scripture and has a Book in the Holy Bible. The critics never mention how a woman in such an oppressive religion would be able to be given such a high honor of being an author of God-inspired scripture. Plainly, it is because it does not fit their narrative. In truth, the Book of Esther is included in the Christian Bible and the Jewish Torah because both religious sects recognize that God has spoken through Esther, and that Esther represents Jesus be being the one that intercedes before God on our behalf.

This passage comes after Esther finds out that Haman, a high official in the kingdom, had developed a plot to exterminate the Jews throughout the world. Haman used deception and trickery to use the king’s forces to help him accomplish his goal. The story parallels the king as God, Haman as Satan, and Esther as Jesus. Satan wants to destroy God’s chosen people; not just the Jews, but all the descendants of Abraham through faith which includes Gentiles and Jews. Esther represents Jesus. Once Esther found out Haman’s plan she interceded on the Jewish people’s behalf so that their lives would be spared, and that Haman be the one punished instead. Jesus stands in front of God, the King of Kings, as our protector, pleading that we be spared, and that Satan be the one that is punished. If you read all of Esther, you will learn that Esther is victorious, the Jewish people are spared, and Haman receives the punishment of death that he wanted for the people.

What does this mean for us? It means Jesus is on our side. Our Creator, God, is not out to get us. He is not looking for every angle He can find to “punish” any of us. He loves us. He protects us. Jesus stands up for us, because there is someone that is out to destroy us. Satan is our enemy. He is named in the Bible. He opposes God and everything that God loves, especially us. God has given us a second chance to have a relationship with Him. God never gave a second chance to Satan or the fallen angels that followed Satan. We have a second chance. In truth, we have a lot more chances than that. You have a chance, still, as you read this, to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Do not be deceived by the one that is jealous of the chance you have. Get into a right relationship with Jesus today. We may have multiple chance, but at some point, they will run out.
