Reid Hoffman, LinkedIn co-founder and venture capitalist, believes that while AI will cause a “massive set of job transformation” over the next several decades, widespread, immediate AI job losses are being sensationalized. He compares the current fears to those surrounding the introduction of Microsoft Excel, which transformed the accounting profession rather than eliminating it.
Instead of a “bloodbath” of jobs, Hoffman argues that AI will amplify human workers and lead to a new era of “person-plus-AI” collaboration. However, he recognizes that some roles, especially entry-level jobs with repetitive tasks, are already seeing significant disruption.
