How To Use AI To Modify Your Own Blog Images For Pinterest
Okay, so you know how Pinterest wants us to keep churning out Fresh Pins like we’re a content factory run by highly caffeinated elves? But here’s the catch, they’re not just asking for new blog posts. Nope. They’re saying even old posts with new images can ride that Pinterest wave again (Bless!)

Thanks to Tailwind’s 2025 Pinterest research, we now have numbers to prove it:
Pins pointing to the same URL but using new images? (They call these “Fresh Pins” if you are new to the Pinterest game!) Still held on to 64% of their original distribution even after Pin #25.
But reusing the same old image over and over again? Those only maintained 11% of their mojo. Womp womp.
So what does this mean for us bloggers, especially if you’re a food blogger, craft blogger, home decor DIY-er, or fashionista showing off your latest thrifted find?
It means we can go into our dusty old blog post archives, take the original photos WE worked so hard to style and shoot… and just give them a makeover. BOOM! Fresh Pin. Fresh chance to go viral!
My Halloween DIY Test Case: JACK Is Back, Baby!
Let me show you what I mean. Here’s my original photo of my rusty checkerboard “JACK” sign for Halloween. (Isn’t he fun?)

This is my photo, taken in my house, styled by my hands. And while I love him in all his rustic Halloween glory, I wanted to freshen things up for Pinterest this year seeing how I probably haven’t posted this on Pinterest since 2020 when I first published the post!
So first I tried using an AI tool I adore – Ideogram – which is amazing for text-to-image creations. But… here’s what happened when I tried to get it to “edit” my JACK photo:

Uhhh… those are cute but they are not MY Jack sign. The AI completely reimagined it and slapped new letters and styles on it. That doesn’t work for bloggers who are using real photos of real projects.
Enter: Kittl and FreshPins (aka My New AI Sidekicks)
I recently found two new tools that are actual game-changers for bloggers who want to create real Fresh Pins using their real images:
- ✅ Kittl: Their AI image generator lets you upload your own photo and actually keep it intact – while adding all kinds of themed magic AROUND it.
- ✅ FreshPins: This is a newer tool, but it walks you through the process step-by-step with lots of support. Great for beginners who want their pins to pop again!
Here’s what I created in Kittl using my exact JACK sign photo with lights and roses in the Kittl editor:

You see the difference, right? It’s still MY JACK sign, but now it has a new vibe. It’s pinnable again. PLUS it looks like I did the decorating.
Now, I will be faffing around with a bit to get the lighting a little better, but dang, that is SO MUCH EASIER than pulling my Jack sign and all my Halloween decorations out in July just to be able to post in time!

Why This Is a Big Deal for Bloggers Like Us
If you’re already taking beautiful photos for your blog – whether it’s crafts, food, lifestyle, or fashion – this trick lets you extend the life of that content across Pinterest and social media!
No need to reshoot. No need to reinvent.
Just take what you’ve already done, give it a fresh look with an AI image generator like Kittl or FreshPins, and re-pin it.
You’re not cheating the algorithm. You’re feeding it!
Here are some prompts to use to make your own pictures pop:
These are ones that would work for my blog, for sure modify them to make them work better for your site! You can even ask your ChatGPT to rewrite them after explaining what you are trying to accomplish!
🖼️ 1. Add Seasonal Flair Without Changing the Main Subject
Keep the original subject EXACTLY as it is. Do not change it. Add seasonal decorations around the edges, such as [fall leaves / Christmas ornaments / Halloween lights]. Match the lighting and mood of the original photo.
📌 Perfect for turning your everyday blog graphic into a themed post for Pinterest or Instagram.
📷 2. Create a Framed Look for Social Media
Keep the original image centered and unedited. Add a decorative or textured frame around the image that fits the theme (e.g., vintage, cozy, modern minimalist, etc.). Leave room at the top or bottom for text overlay.
📌 Great for making blog titles pop on social posts without losing your brand visuals.
🎃 3. Surround Your Subject with Themed Props
Do not edit the main subject. Instead, place themed props (like flowers, books, candles, tools, or holiday items) on the table or background area. Keep the style cohesive and enhance the atmosphere without cluttering the scene.
📌 Use this when you want your blog post topic to feel more “lived in” or styled.
🖋️ 4. Add a Banner or Sign with Text
Leave the original photo untouched. Add a subtle banner or sign in the foreground or background that says [Your Blog Post Title]. Make it look natural in the scene, like part of the environment, not a graphic overlay.
📌 This is a great way to promote post titles on Pinterest while staying artistic.
✨ 5. Give Your Graphic a Whimsical or Magical Touch
Keep the original subject the same. Add magical details like sparkles, floating elements, soft glows, or dreamy accents in the background. Maintain a cohesive style and don’t obscure the main content.
📌 Use this for manifesting posts, crafts, DIY, or anything with a woo-woo vibe.
