[This is now going to be my, every B4IN article, standard opening (as of Dec. 19, 2024):
I get it, I really do, all these outlets are operating as a business… And how do they make money? Advertising! (more continues: /media/2024/07/click-bait-here-click-bait-there-everywhere-click-bait-2515961.html ). Yes, sorry, frankly I TOO find especially the initial Ads (they pile up, to be able to get them viewed in case someone doesn't read the whole article) here interrupting a nice/natural Read flow and are ANNOYING (but it keeps the Site FREE FOR VIEWING no Pay Wall to have to BUY your way past) and conversely their annoyance may indeed keep some from wanting to bother (so, Please, there is some GREAT CONTENT here on B4IN, keep reading the entire pieces despite the annoying Ads) and note if you engage an AD BLOCKER often I have found it/they can cause issues with seeing all the intended article content --- don't want you to miss any of mine, nor anyone else who posts here entire content as intended! The authors images (some or all), videos (some or all), their intended cross-reference links (vs Site produced Ad links, the easy Share-At/On buttons, and more, might also get "blocked" from viewing. And so now, to catch any NEW Readers, I too adding to annoyance having to repeat this over and over. My apologies. I endeavor to always give you DETAILED WRITINGS (and cross-reference related links with other rabbit-holes you can go down) hopefully you'll deem worthy of putting up with the annoying Ads to engage in/with. I am NOT fond of the changes, but I have been with B4IN a long time now - certainly not looking to leave. FIRST AND FOREMOST (if you didn’t already read this WARNING in https://tinyurl.com/WriteAndPublishSupplement (the other, 1st, free HTWABAGIP piece)): if you are publishing a book LOOK YOURSELF UP!! What do I mean? Unless you have a very unique name – BE SURE THERE IS NOT SOMEONE ALREADY SELLING BOOKS UNDER THE SAME NAME (check GOOGLE, YAHOO, BING, DUCKDUCKGO (though they are now basically Google2 owned by Alphabet), GIBIRU, FreeSpoke, etc. – many if not all of them to be sure).

 

If you are JOHN DOE – check: if there is one, you must try putting in your middle-initial as JOHN X DOE or whatever and IF there is already a JOHN X DOE (to be sure to avoid confusion, and you be distinct) you are SOL and will need adopt an alias (double middle-initial? perhaps or add “II” (roman numeral, for “the 2nd” even if your Family lineage doesn’t really designate you as such) to write under to avoid confusion. Remember Ben Franklin wrote as SILENCE DOGOOD – I like to joke I might write under NOGOOD NE’ERDOWELL one day. LOL

For example I am: Joseph M. Lenard*
NOT “Joseph Lenard” 
I am not he, nor he me!!!
and I also like to joke neither of us will be confused as Shakespeare. LOL
I reside in MI he in SC.
2 different authors!!!!
* It looks French, is not, actually derived from some point from something likely longer (Lenardowaskivichski?, haven’t checked back far enough in the Family Tree to find what it was before this) that was/is Polish (yes, part German, Italian, and Polish, descendancy and Immigration (LEGALLY) to USA) is “Leonard” without the “o.”

Someone (@PA_nurse77 on TruthSocial) reached out to me about BOOK ROYALTIES Question and I finally realized that I never addressed such in my “HOW TO WRITE A BOOK AND GET IT PUBLISHED: HINTS, TIPS, TECHNIQUES” (HTWABAGIP) book nor the (free prior/previous online BeforeItsNews article) https://tinyurl.com/WriteAndPublishSupplement (that is shortcut link to it; it is officially titled “How to Write a Book and Get It Published… Want to really influence discussions, or potentially advance your Career, publish your thoughts, it’s easier now than ever…” from Dec. 2022) that I wrote!

I should write a follow-up (and now today (Sat. Apr. 19th 2025) I will) to my https://tinyurl.com/WriteAndPublishSupplement (free online article (see that also, along with this short-piece)) which was FREE PEEK at some of my hints/tips NOT IN the book; one pre-planned doing that as PROMOTIONAL outlet to Advertise the book and two to give folks insight to the value of what is in the paid book version; as I do not really go into Royalties.

 

Why the Hell did I not think to do that?!?!?

 

Depends on the Publication, how/where Published through…

For example, TS (“TERROR STRIKES: COMING SOON TO A CITY NEAR YOU!“) thru Amazon I got “Royalty” when they bought copies through Ingram/Sparks (traditional book printer, been around forever, therefore most major Publishing Houses have their Stock printed via them) as I had that Published with the help of ILLUMIFY MEDIA (Mike created a new sub-division just for my TS book and others going forward “more Political” in orientation fare, vs IM more just “Christian” fare) sub-division MCHENRY (yes, as in Fort McHenry off coast Key wrote what would become later our Anthem “Star Spangled Banner”) PRESS which then placed the manuscript with I/S for Printings (got Royalty from I/S for Amazon‘s order of however many copies they bought and get new Royalties if/when Amazon reStocks it, but otherwise on per purchase not necessarily as some Sellers may be RE-SELLERS and Selling used (sometimes not honestly telling they are selling used) and then there is no royalty on/with the ReSell.

B&N BAM booktopia others book Retailers now generally sell online and they Order only when a book is Sold and therefore would be printed by I/S at time of order and I would accrue a Royalty (and get it 90 days or so later).

HTWABAGIP was direct Published thru/with Amazon so YES get Royalty either Kindle or Print Sale (as they PrintOnDemand the Print version Sales) and I eventually get a Royalty from them (assuming they don’t FUDGE THE NUMBERS to withhold from us Authors?!?!?) same with my Podcasting and 2 CTP books (both direct via Amazon). And then there is Author Copies I buy (no Royalty) that I can/do then Sell as Autopraphed copies via https://JosephMLenard.us/shop and I of course build-in a profit there (which varies depending on how much USPS is charging me for the FREE SHIPPING in USA that I offer).

 

The Royalties (again, if they aren’t fudging the Sales numbers we can see via Sales Reports) are paid quicker and are a bit higher than Print copy cuz those are PURE DIGITAL in nature (no printing) as well as no delivery cost as they are downloaded. AppleBooks, B&N Nook, and Kindle, versions do indeed usually pay a higher Royalty over Printed version Sales as again all digital and they therefore try to graciously “allow us to Share a bit more” in the overall Sale Price!

BUT, let me be honest, Amazon Print copies of TS are marked down now (from MSRP) that it is a few years after initial Release (they are willing to make less per Sale than when book first Released).

Ron Baker David Ray Nichols Yes painting a picture in the Reader’s mind is important – and especially small little details that may seem meaningless at time of first reading if you can, could, should, IMO, call-back to in some form as a later in the manuscript. Shows the Reader THE DEPTH to which you take them seriously and wanting to hold their interest, reward their having paid attention (or, if they didn’t, hopefully will GO BACK and ReRead what they missed), etc….

Would imagine that will add a bit to the MSRP needed asked to cover costs and have any profit margin (not just GIVING books away, from Royalty perspective).

Did no results pop up asking that of GOOGLE or YAHOO or BING or whatever?!?!? Or, more likely, and best, always good to get RECO from someone who has gone down “whatever” road before and IF they’ve found someone they consider “trustworthy!”
