Who Knew Data Centers are Actually Good??
Theology and Politics from a Conservative, Biblical Perspective
I recently read an article that made me chuckle out loud. It wasn’t because the article was deliberately funny, but because the author was actually very serious. It was funny because of the level of misinformation in it.
The article, In Defense of Building the Data Centers [1], by Erik-Woods Erickson is a hoot really. He comes out with blazing guns essentially telling us that data centers are not a problem at all. He articulates they use hardly any water (compared to golf courses), they create a ton of jobs and essentially, are necessary for our well being and convenience.
He spends a good amount of time talking about eminent domain and how it is necessary for power companies to be able to run roughshod over people, even taking their homes and lands (in exchange for money), because we all need electrical power. He also lauds the water usage of data centers because he says golf courses use far more water than ordinary data centers.
In Middle Georgia, neighborhoods are being wiped out. People are losing their homes under eminent domain because Georgia Power needs to put in or upgrade to very high voltage lines to support data centers coming in there. I’m sorry, but while I understand how eminent domain works, it shouldn’t be automatic. I personally know one husband and wife cattle farmers who lived above Atlanta. The state decided to put in part of a connector to the freeway right through their land. They were simply told they were going to lose their farm. The state said what they would pay for it and it wasn’t enough to cover the actual value, so the couple hired lawyers. Eventually, they got what they wanted but had to share the proceeds with the legal team. They relocated to a farm not far from here and put down roots, taking all their cattle from the north and bringing them here.
In the article, Erickson further notes that data centers bring in tons of jobs to the local economy. Electricians, plumbers, construction workers and the rest are all needed to build the data centers. He also downplays the noise (or constant humming drone) of a completed and working data center, as though they really don’t have annoying noise that keeps people awake at night.
One other huge thing I noticed is that he provides absolutely no linked facts for any of his statements. He simply presents what really is his opinion on data centers. He does so with authority as though he presents tremendous facts and linkable data to back up his claims. He doesn’t.
He claims electric rates are not going up in the community where data centers exist. He is either extremely ignorant or is simply a shill for data centers themselves (an investor?). Too many people are complaining about the rise in cost of their electricity once a data center is completed and goes online. These people aren’t imagining things. They’re looking at their own household electric bills. Here is merely one article from yesterday, July 14, that highlights the actual problem. [2] Yes, there is a load of propaganda on the ‘Net and sometimes you really have to search to find the truth, but this particular article came up at the top of the list.
Regarding water usage, I also believe the author is way off when he says that golf courses use far more water than data centers. The problem with water used for data centers is that, while it may be recycled to some degree, the water that goes in is at a different temperature than the water that comes out after it has been used to cool things off inside the data center. This change in water temperature affects the ecosystems of the river, lake, reservoir, or aquifer being used. This then has a direct effect on the wildlife and flora/fauna.
Regarding the usage of water by golf courses, if you go on the Internet, you will find any numbers of articles that tell you that data centers do not use as much water as golf courses. The one thing those articles don’t say is that the water that is used on golf courses isn’t changed and generally goes back into the groundwater as grass is being watered.
I did come across several articles that detail the fact that data centers actually use far more water than golf courses, but I had to search for them. This one highlights just Google data centers and how much water is utilized by them compared to golf courses. [3] This was written a year ago and since then we’ve seen many more data centers being built. According to the article, it seems Google data centers use as much as 41 golf courses. In just one example, a Google data center in Iowa used/consumed 980 million gallons of water in 2023. Google data centers in Leesburg, VA use as much water as 1.2 golf courses, at 173.2 million gallons of water. More facts are in the article.
Erickson also lauds the way a data center brings in tons of jobs. On one hand he is correct, but those jobs are only temporary, only needed while the center is being built. Once the center is completed and turned over the customer, it needs only a handful of people to be there to watch and maintain things. So initially, money is being pumped into the economy, but it doesn’t last unless data centers keep being built there.
Erikson also talks about the noise from data centers, essentially poo-pooing the idea that they make any reasonable amount of noise that would bother neighbors. I’m not sure where he’s getting his information, but I’ve seen too many news clips investigating the noise level of data centers in communities. People complain because the constant drone/hum is something they not only hear, but feel.
It’s not just the noise level either. It’s the artificial light that these data centers emit 24/7. For those communities surrounding the data centers, the sun never really sets. Their choice is to have completely black out curtains throughout their house, which makes everything seem like you’re living in a cave.
But to hear Erikson tell it, data centers are so beneficial that we cannot live without them and should be extremely grateful that they exist. He notes that we demand them because of the increasing use of the “cloud.” Well, I’ve never demanded an increase in the size of the cloud and frankly, I do not purposefully use it. Yes, some of my pictures from my phone are stored in the cloud, but if it didn’t exist, it wouldn’t bother me. I keep files/pictures on my phone to a minimum anyway and often dump everything onto my computer locally.
However, let’s be clear here. The real problem for globalists is the continuing growth and increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI). Without AI, all the information that is collected and catalogued would mean nothing. It takes a very powerful AI solution to deal with all the collected data. We didn’t demand that. Globalists did! That’s why they push data centers. I couldn’t care less about using AI and purposefully avoid it whenever I can.
Honestly, Erickson seems more like a propagandist than anything else, gleefully highlighting what he thinks are all the pluses and perks of having data centers in your community, all of it presented without actual searchable facts. I’d like him to live across the street from some and then tell me what he thinks.
Let me take just a few minutes to point out why there is a major increase in the building and usage of data centers (aside form the need for more AI). First, though we are told we are demanding it so we can use the cloud more, the truth is that this is simply part of the Hegelian Dialectic. Globalists are creating the problem so that we will demand a solution. The solution always means more loss of freedom for us. This is seen in greater surveillance and control. It’s really that simple.
Consider China. In the 1970s, the Trilateral Commission with David Rockefeller (founder), and his sidekick Zbigniew Brzezinski went there to “help” that third world communist nation turn itself into the world’s first Technocracy. A technocracy is a type of system controlled by unelected bureaucrats who ultimately decide what the average person in that technocracy can do, including what they can buy or sell, where they can travel to, and how much energy they can use, etc.
It is interesting that neither Rockefeller or Brzezinski helped the leaders of China move away from a Communist government. They simply placed their technocracy template over the existing Communist form of government and that’s what exists today.
So what did creating that technocracy in China do for that country and how did globalists bring it about? Ultimately, a digital prison was created for every Chinese person living there. Huge data centers were set up (with the help of then Google CEO Eric Schmidt), that were capable of collecting and cataloging everything that every person did, said and bought. From all this information a credit score was assigned to each and every person. Those with high social credit scores (because they obeyed all the rules), got to buy what they wanted and enjoyed far more benefits and perks than those who did not comply.
That Chinese system has been in existence for decades and when globalists were ready to roll it out to the entire world, I believe they used a “pandemic” to do so. Enter CV with the warning that more people would die from CV than died from the Spanish Flu of 1918. Though this did not turn out to be even remotely true, too many people experienced deadly fear and were more than willing to comply to “be safe.” In fact, these same people were also very willing to rat out their neighbors who did not comply with CV rules of social distancing, staying inside, etc. The globalists got what they needed to get and have since continued pressuring society to adopt everything they throw at us.
I honestly do not understand how someone like Erickson can be so blasé about the reason for data centers, unless he is completely unaware of their ultimate use? I’d like to remind him that according to Revelation 13, at some point in the future, everyone will be required to take the mark of the beast. How on earth will that be done and enforced without tons of data centers that keep tabs on every single person in the USA and the world? Is he that blind or stupid?
Erickson is actually lauding and applauding the use of data centers as though they are simply good things for us and the world and there is nothing negative about them. Can I assume then that when the mark is offered, if he is alive at that point, he’ll jump on the bandwagon and take it? If he doesn’t, the Bible tells us that decision will result in execution.
How else will we get to a one world order ultimately controlled by one man the Bible calls the Antichrist (man of sin; 2 Thessalonians 2)? If not for these data centers, we would have more freedom, but everything has been incrementally enacted starting with personal computers and then personal cell phones. We are now at a tipping point where all of our phone calls and messages go through the NSA in Utah. Everything is seen and possibly catalogued. While the idea of a personal computer started off nicely, with the addition of the Internet, we began seriously losing our privacy. That has continued with various other situations stealing our freedoms. The original 9/11 created the TSA and ousted the 4th amendment from airports because it was “for our safety.” They can literally strip search you if they choose.
CV creating another situation where we were forced to stay indoors. Church attendance became prohibited. Social distancing was mandatory as was wearing a ridiculous mask that offered virtually no health benefits, but actually created health problems. Every time we are asked (or it is demanded), that we comply it is usually for “our safety.” Data centers are coming to this world for our “convenience” we are told. This is in spite of just how expensive these things are, how they raise electric rates and seriously increase water usage and give the “state” more chances to surveil society. Flock cameras are another add-on that uses data centers to collect and catalogue all the information. We are approaching the movie “Minority Report” in real time.
I wish more people would wake up to the reality of what is happening. I wish more people would read the Bible and take it in its most plain and ordinary sense. I wish people saw the truth of what Satan is attempting to accomplish (and will succeed for a short while). It ultimately leads to the coming Tribulation and the eventual physical return of Jesus. That return is something I want to shout about!
