But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

My, how times have changed!

I still recall the days before the Internet and when ATM cards were first introduced by banks. Like many, I had one and it was interesting how it could be used just about anywhere to pay for things and the amount would be deducted from your bank account. This was well before personal computing became a thing.

Back then, the very basics of gaming was just in its infancy and of course, the games were designed to be fun. The gamer would try his/her best to get through all the mazes without “dying” to find some type of treasure at the end. This usually involved dealing with the hazards and/or “bosses” of different levels that had to be beaten before proceeding onto the next level.

Like everything else, including movies, it wasn’t long before gaming graphics started getting much better and games became darker. Eventually, in the 1970s, someone came up with the idea of a “first person shooter,” which meant that the player would control a character shooting and killing anything that stood in its path that might keep it from moving onto the next level.

At first, gamers shot zombies, aliens and other weird looking creatures that tried to keep the player from moving to the next level. Eventually it became people against people in these shooting games. There are also numerous games that included running people over with vehicles and the more people you ran over, the more points you scored.

Experts tell us that this didn’t make people go out and commit murder, though some acknowledge that if a person is already predisposed to that type of violent behavior, it can increase the odds. All this is to say that the goal seems to have been to desensitize people to violence, death and mayhem and that may have been the goal from the beginning. The same may apply to all the social media websites in general. This seems to have worked well throughout society because the mores of society have been seriously downgraded with people saying and doing whatever comes to mind without remorse.

People are divided today along political and ideological lines and the resentment one to the other is often very deep and visceral. Because of social media, some of my friends and I started butting heads figuratively speaking because of politics and then eventually went our own ways, never to talk again. This seems to have been the goal too.

In both cases – gaming and social media – what began as a fun past time eventually turned into a friction-filled reality that pushed people apart by politics, ideology and religion. Was that the end goal?

The result of all of this, in my opinion, is that society, by and large, has been seriously divided and pitted against one another. The gulf between groups has widened astronomically over the past few years. I believe social media and first person shooters have created this within society and because of that, I’m doubtful there is a way back to what it was prior to the existence of those things.

It takes is a deliberate determination to remain free of social media (or at least guard it closely to avoid being addicted/controlled), and to stop playing violently obsessive video games or watching violent movies. I cannot help but wonder in the case of Tyler Robinson if it was simply his college education and situation that radicalized him or if he has a history of playing first person shooters or both? Was he so involved in playing those types of games that he got to a point where he simply lacked any sense of humanity toward those with whom he disagreed or was it solely social media leading to college Marxism? He was clearly involved in Marxist-type social media websites that pushed the radical Left’s ideology.

I watched the judicial proceedings against Tyler Robinson the other day at his first court appearance via video from the jail and it was interesting to see Robinson’s absolute non-reaction. It was as though he had no real clue what he had done OR as in a first person shooter game, believed himself to have done the “right” thing where Charlie Kirk was concerned. He literally showed no emotion that I could see and when he had to answer a question, he did so with a matter of fact reply as if he was ordering lunch at his favorite fast-food place.

What is interesting about Tyler Robinson and his assassination/murder of Charlie Kirk (because of Kirk’s politics and ideology), is that there are many on the conservative side pushing theories that say Tyler wasn’t the shooter or wasn’t the only one involved. They point to the people near Kirk giving “hand signals” as proof. Mike Adams pushes a conspiratorial view pointing to the fact that the rifle scope was allegedly attached backwards. Mike Adams is also seriously anti-Semitic, which is why I’ve stopped paying any attention to him.

Dr. Frank Turek, a close associate of Kirk and one of the guys on stage when Kirk was fatally shot has stated that during that time, he was on the phone with his kids pointing out different things around him (I’m assuming he was Face Timing). He has publicly announced the accusations at him giving signals to the shooter are categorically false.[1] In fact, he ridicules those conspiracy theories asking why the gunman would need to wait for any sign since he could clearly see through the scope to determine if he was targeted onto Charlie Kirk. He would not need anyone to tell him anything. This is probably not good enough for the mindless people who believe others were involved.

We appear to have an entire generation brainwashed by social media, movies and gaming, leading to the seeming Marxist approach to taking over a society. There is almost too much information available and it is too difficult to sift through to find the truth. I cannot help but think there is no going back as a society and the Bible verses at the beginning of this article tend to support that notion.

Our daughter and her husband have four year-old and six year-old boys. They have been enamored with TV and gaming. The fast-pacing of these programs/games seemed to make the boys edgy, more unsettled and more likely to argue about things.

Because of this, our daughter and her husband decided no more TV or electronic games, period. It has made a major positive change in the boys. They still have energy but they use it for drawing, coloring, building things and even reading (as in the case of the six year-old). As siblings they still argue, but it doesn’t last. This was all because caring parents made the right decision to take away the electronics and have the boys actually play together and/or with their toys.

Too often today, parents send their sons and daughters to college and those same kids are deliberately morphed into Leftwing nutcases. Why is that? I believe it is due to the Marxist push at college campuses for decades as well as social media and violent gaming. All of it has desensitized those students to truth for lies. It has removed their ability to care or have concern for other human beings. They come to see people who disagree with their ideology as enemy combatants because that’s what has been engrained in them through the constant use of social media apps, movies and violent games.

Tyler Robinson, in alleged text messages recovered from phones, complained that his dad had become diehard MAGA. He didn’t like that. There’s quite a bit in those messages allegedly between Robinson and his trans-lover and for anyone who would like to read it in its entirety, I’ve linked it at the bottom of this article.[2] What stands out to me are a number of things. First, Robinson seems to have zero remorse and even states that the reason he killed Kirk is because Robinson said some level of hatred (allegedly Kirk’s) cannot be negotiated out (my paraphrase). He saw Charlie Kirk as a hater therefore, to Robinson, there was only one clear solution since he obviously had no capacity to engage Kirk verbally. This is what Marxism rests on in reality.

Too often, we Christians tend to not see the real reason for the ills of society. If we would just stop long enough to understand that Satan never sleeps and has minions of fallen angels at his control, doing his bidding, we would understand that Satan has been busy creating problems in every society throughout the ages and will continue up to the very end. However, because of the advance of technology in the 20th and 21st centuries, he has even more tools at his disposal to corrupt humanity now. This is what he lives for because he knows he has no chance of a personal reprieve, his goal still appears to be to take as many people with him in hell/the Lake of Fire where he will also end up. In fact, Scripture tells us that the lake of fire was created specifically for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41), not for people at all, but for the devil and his angels. However, if people follow the same corrupt evil path, they get the same “reward.”

It seems almost certain that this generation overall cannot be saved. But that does not mean God has stopped saving people out of it because I firmly believe He is doing that. Unfortunately, the majority of those who are thoroughly corrupted via brainwashing will continue on their course.

I also believe because of that, it is important for conservatives and Christians (especially), to realize what is happening in society and stop being blind to it. People still believe that a mighty revival is coming to this land. I’ve heard that since my time in the Charismatic Movement in the 1970s where that belief (Dominionism[3]), still exists. That could happen but Scripture indicates that it will occur on the inside of the coming Tribulation. Revelation 6 tells us about the seals and the 5th Seal indicates to me that there are a ton of martyrs.

9 When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” (Revelation 6:9-10)

This is not to say that there will not be more people receiving salvation prior to the Tribulation, but maybe just not in the numbers people expect to see. In fact, it appears that society is in the throes of the great falling away that the Bible speaks of happening in the last days.

Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition (2 Thessalonians 2:3)

That “Day” is believed to refer to the coming Tribulation, a seven year time of unprecedented evil (Revelation 6-18). So before the Tribulation starts, there must be a severe and serious falling away from the faith, or a global apostasy by people professing to be Christian but are not.

It seems we are living in those last days right now because of the moral upheaval throughout society where people believe men can change genders and even have children and where violence including murder is acceptable if the targeted person is deemed a “hater.” The troubling part of this is not just what we are seeing in society at large but what we are seeing within Christendom with more and more pastors coming out to embrace the LGBTQ community and other aberrant areas that the church should not be endorsing because God does not. I’m certainly not saying the church should shun or hate those people, as they need to hear the Gospel. I’m saying that too many in pulpits today are compromising with the world just as Israel has done so many times in her history. It never ends well.

Let me leave readers with this – I’m not telling anyone to lock and load. I’m not telling anyone to go looking for trouble. I’m simply saying that trouble exists in greater measure today and may find us. The first line of defense is to be and remain very close to God. Second, it helps to be aware of circumstances as most people today seem to be completely preoccupied.

People like Tyler Robinson will not go away, nor will they change. I find it fascinating that, according to the text messages, Robinson was very upset about not retrieving his rifle because it was his grandfather’s. He was upset because he knew his fingerprints were on it and he was upset because it was his grandfather’s gun and he didn’t know how he was going to explain that to his father.

There is no indication he was sorry for murdering/assassinating Charlie Kirk. None whatsoever. He may well be found guilty and given the death penalty. I can imagine him stoically sitting before a firing squad in Utah and only possibly being scared for himself at that time or maybe he thinks he’ll continue to be seen as a hero to the far Left. Satan laughs and looks forward to tormenting people like Tyler Robinson in the afterlife.

This is what society is now faced with, rogue individuals who believe murder is fine as long as it’s directed at a “hater.” We are truly in dark days of evil unleashed, what the Bible calls “perilous times.” Live accordingly relying on God for His wisdom, His Presence and direction.
