1,500-Year-Old Mummy Found In Mongolia ‘Wearing Adidas Boots’ Is Proof Of Time Travel, According To Conspiracy Theorists

Archaeologists in Mongolia released the first photos of an ancient woman found preserved in the Altai Mountains.

But one picture in particular is causing a stir online after it appears the 1,500-year-old mummy is wearing what appears to be Adidas boots.

The pair of boots they found were well-preserved along with other items. The excavation of the mummy’s grave unearthed several possessions such as a clay vase, a saddle, pillows, a trough, a bridle, an iron kettle, a wooden bowl, four ‘dool’ (ancient Mongolian clothes) and the carcass of a whole horse.

The archaeologists also found a sheep’s head, a felt bag that contained a sheep’s entire back, a leather bag intended to carry a cup and several goat bones.

The recent find is considered the very first complete set of Turkik burial remains discovered in Central Asia.

The traditional footwear of the time looks more like it was designed by German sportswear brand Adidas complete with the iconic stripes, which has got chins wagging on the internet. One person wrote on Live Leak: “Didn’t know they had Adidas back then…” While another questioned: “The mummy had on some Adidas in the first pic?”However, experts have said that it is one of the most unique insights into Mongolian life at the time.

 B. Sukhbaatar, researcher at Khovd Museum, told the Siberian Times: “This person was not from elite, and we believe it was likely a woman, because there is no bow in the tomb.

“Now we are carefully unwrapping the body and once this is complete the specialists will be able to say more precisely about the gender.”

“We can see clearly that the horse was deliberately sacrificed. It was a mare, between four and eight years old.

“An interesting thing we found is that not only sheep wool was used, but also camel wool.

“We can date the burial by the things we have found there, also the type of hat.

“It gives us a preliminary date of around the 6th century AD.”

The cool temperatures of the mountain environment helped to preserve the corpse, researchers said.

Social media erupted in wild speculation, and in the midst of the uproar many on Twitter and Facebook claimed unabashedly that the 1,500-year-old mummy was the preserved corpse of a time traveler from the future who met an unexpected end while visiting the Altai Mountains Turkic tribes.

One Twitter user jokingly quipped: ‘Must be a time traveler. I knew we would dig one up sooner or later’, another added: ‘Huh? Time-travelling Mummy? Corpse interfered with?.’

Meanwhile, Facebook users said: ‘Loooooool he’s wearing a pair of gazelles’, and ‘Well I must admit, I’ve got a few pair but I ain’t had them that long.’
