Russia Today: Moscow prepares response to Kiev’s ATACMS attack – madness rages

Ukraine has launched several US-supplied long-range missiles at targets in Russia’s Kursk region over the past three days, says the Russian Defense Ministry, which will retaliate against the attacks. Russia is preparing a response to Ukraine’s ATACMS attack on the Kursk region, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday. Last week, US President Joe Biden authorized Kiev to use long-range missiles from the US against targets deep within Russia’s internationally recognized borders, reports Russia Today

In an official sttement on Telegram, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that over the past three days, Ukraine’s forces had carried out two long-range attacks against the Kursk region using Western weapons. On November 23, Kiev fired five ATACMS missiles near the village of Lotaryovka, about 37 km northwest of the city of Kursk, targeting the position of an S-400 anti-aircraft missile division. The attack resulted in three casualties among the personnel and caused damage to the radar, the ministry said.

In addition, on November 25, Kiev launched another eight ATACMS at the Kursk-Vostochny airfield, located near the village of Khalino. Seven of the missiles were shot down using the S-400 missile defense system and the Pantsir anti-aircraft missile and gun system. However, one of the missiles managed to reach its target. As a result, two officials were injured and several facilities were "slightly damaged," according to the report. The ministry noted that during the inspections of the target areas, it was "reliably confirmed" that Kiev's forces had carried out the attacks using US-supplied ATACMS missiles. The ministry also published several photos of what are alleged to be the remains of the American-made rockets. "The Russian Ministry of Defense is monitoring the situation, and response actions are being prepared," concluded the report posted on Telegram and official websites associated with the Russian Ministry of Defense. The most likely is that Russia attacks military targets inside Ukraine. Since Moscow considers that attacks with Western-supplied long-range missiles cannot take place without NATO personnel being involved in the attack, American, French and British targets in and outside Ukraine are also legal targets for Russian forces.
