Tropical Cyclone Debbie is expected to intensify and impact the Queensland coast of Australia early next week as the equivalent of a major hurricane. Debbie formed east of Queensland on Friday evening (Eastern time) and is currently moving slowly southwestward.
Debbie is the equivalent of a Category 1 as of early Saturday morning and atmospheric and oceanic conditions should remain very favorable for continued strengthening through this weekend.
