Geto Boys Announce 'The Beginning Of a Long Goodbye Tour' Following Bushwick Bill's Cancer Diagnosis
Scarface, Bushwick Bill and Willie D of The Geto Boys perform in concert at the House of Blues on June 11, 2015 in Houston, Texas.
With Bushwick Bill going public regarding his stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis, the Geto Boys announced a string of farewell performances on Wednesday (May 8). The Beginning of a Long Goodbye Tour will kick off in Pontiac, Mich. on May 24 at The Crofoot.
A Geto Boys tour was already in the works, but with Bill’s health status in peril, the legendary group figured a smaller concert series would be more fitting. “Because of the seriousness of Bill’s prognosis, the Geto Boys have decided to do just a handful of shows at the end of this month in order for fans to be able to see the group together one last time,” reads a statement on their website.
A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit pancreatic cancer awareness. The mini-series continues with stops in Cleveland, Washington D.C., and NYC to close out May. Prior to Bushwick Bill’s shocking revelation last week (May 1), he hadn’t told Scarface or Willie D of his stage 4 diagnosis from February.
