Big things are in store for the cruise industry. Many of them in the form of new cruise ships. This is some of the latest cruise news that’s making a lot of headlines.

Construction Begins on Celebrity Apex
Celebrity Cruise Line cruise news:  Celebrity is adding another ship to it’s rapidly expanding fleet. The Celebrity Apex, which is expected to launch in 2020, is the sister ship to the Celebrity Edge cruise ship. Construction recently began on this 2,900 passenger vessel and once it’s complete it will have an innovative design. This ship will have 90 ton platforms that can move up and down and serve as everything from a boarding area to a restaurant. The Apex will have a lot of choices as far as cabins go and will include Infinite Veranda cabins as well as the cruise line’s first cabins for those that are traveling solo.

Celebrity Cruises To Refurbish Entire Fleet
Celebrity Cruises 2019 will be debuting a new ship in November, the Celebrity Edge. There’s been a lot of hype around it and because of this, the cruise line has decided to redesign the entire fleet. There’s expected to be over 500 different architects, designers and engineers that will be working on this $500 million overhaul of these 13 different ships. Cabins will be redesigned so that they have more neutral tones and a calmer feel. Many of the onboard restaurants will receive new menus and a new design. In addition to the aesthetic qualities, they will try to reduce emission and increase their ships’ fuel efficiency by about 20%.

Princess Prepares For Its 50th Anniversary In Alaska
Can you believe it? Next year will mark 50 years that Princess Cruises has been in Alaska. Currently they offer close to two dozen different land and sea tour options and plenty of opportunities for passengers to discover some of the most remote parts of Alaska. They are getting ready for their 50th anniversary and next year the Royal Princess will be debuting in Alaska. This ship will have plenty of balcony cabins so guests can see the passing scenery from their rooms. Itineraries will include seeing Alaska’s Inside Passage and Denali National Park.

Regent Seven Seas New World Cruise For 2021
Regent Seven Seas Cruises will be offering a world cruise in 2021. Departing on January 5 from Miami, passengers will be taken to six continents and 30 countries. This includes 61 ports, 56 UNESCO World Heritage sites and destinations such as Australia, Barcelona, Monaco, France, the Caribbean, Machu Picchu, New Zealand, Turkey, Italy and Tahiti. Guests will be able to enjoy a truly personalized experience as the staff to guest ratio will only be 1 to 1.6.

Lindblad Expeditions Orders Additional Polar Cruise Ship
The 3 current polar ships in Lindblads fleet have been well received. Because of this they are ordering an additional polar ship. It’s expected to debut in 2021. This ship may be very similar to the National Geographic Endurance that’s supposed to debut in 2020. That ship will have 69 cabins, with 75% of them having a balcony. Norwegian Cruise Line Moving Another Mega Ship To Alaska In 2019
In the early part of 2019, the Norwegian Joy cruise ship start sailing to Alaska. Before the Joy gets to its new home port in Seattle it will undergo a $50 million overhaul and will end up being very similar to the mega ship, the Norwegian Bliss cruise ship. It will also offer the same 7 night Alaska itineraries as the Bliss.
