Moments of Destiny
The dictionary describes Destiny as “the hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future; fate.”
Do you believe in fate and destiny?
Perhaps we believe that requires a belief in “Gord” as I heard it called for the first time this weekend by a new friend. “Gord” pertaining to “God”, that which holds many names and many beliefs on this spec of dust spinning in a universe amongst universes.
But like all fairy tales their story gives us a sense of wonder and perhaps it’s that wonder that gives us purpose?
And I never want to stop wondering.
How about you?
Film creates wonder for me as I’m a highly visual person. I grew up loving the most magical amongst them; The Wizard of Oz, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, …. and most recently, Game of Thrones.
This morning I watched the finale. And in the true spirit of my “monkey mind” I kept checking in on my instagram, and to my surprise, at the very moment, Tyrion was speaking the very same words, as I was reading them, posted by Brene Brown, on Instagram.
At that very moment, exactly…
“What unites people?
Armies? Gold? Flags?
Stories!
There’s nothing in the world more
powerful than a good story.
Nothing can stop it.
No enemy can defeat it.”
Tyrion, Game of Thrones
Was this fate, destiny?
I’m a skeptic mystic.
Sounds conflicting right? A skeptic and a mystic.
And that’s ok.
Life is a pendulum that swings back and forth. From polarity to polarity.
And our belief in the mystery that holds our fate or destiny, perhaps somewhere around the middle?
I’m not sure.
And out of over seven billion people on this spec of dust. No one else is either.
No one holds the monopoly on truth. But ourselves for ourselves.
And I choose to believe in the mystery of destiny.
And I feel it was speaking to me in this moment.
That’s my story.
What’s yours?
