Russia’s Prophetic Destiny May Be Unfolding With Antichrist Rising Out of Syria

Russia’s recent reactivation of the “friendship and cooperation treaty” with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has prophecy students considering whether this move will prove to be significant toward ushering in the Antichrist.
[ Personal Note: Several commentators have proclaimed the beast (as a person – not as an empire) will be an Assyrian, or from Syria. Peter Goodgame seems to believe the beast as an antichrist person will be a manifestation of Nimrod]
Steve Magill, author of the new book Revelation and the Age of Antichrist, says “Russia’s revived treaty with Syria is important because the Antichrist will appear out of Syria. Scripture also records Russia as the feet of the Antichrist ordained to mobilize his empire.”
[ Personal Note: To my knowledge, scripture does not record Russia as the feet of the antichrist (or beast as a person - further research may show that the beast is an empire and not an individual and may not even be a consideration for the so-called antichrist) again the majority of this article is imaginative opinion ]
Magill notes that in Daniel 7 an empire with the national symbol of a bear will be on the world stage concurrently with three other empires, also known by their animal symbol. These empires are identified as a lion with eagle wings (Great Britain and the United States); a bear (Russia); and a leopard (Islam). Never in the history of the world have four empires with these animal symbols appeared on the world stage at the same time.
[ Personal Note: Russia could be associated with a bear and England with a Lion (as on various heraldry shields) but a leopard is not a symbol of Islam to my knowledge. An internet quote states: “The leopard is not known as the symbol for any nation. If you examine Islam you will find that it has all the characteristics of the leopard”. ]
Revelation 13:2 describes the role each of these empires have in establishing the Antichrist’s empire. Great Britain and the United States are recorded as the Antichrist’s mouth/voice to set the agenda and lead the world toward establishing the new global world order. Russia, the bear, is recorded as the feet of the Antichrist to realign and support the Middle-East landscape. Islam, the leopard, is recorded as the body of the Antichrist’s empire to which America, Great Britain, and Russia will be attached to make the earth’s final empire, the Antichrist empire.

When Antichrist’s empire is formed, it will be the fourth, brutal beast of Daniel 7, the composite beast of Revelation 13:2, and the new world order realigning all nations into ten economic/political regions, known as the ten toes of Daniel 2:42, 7:24-25, and the ten horns of Revelation 13:1.
Russia’s Syrian aggression is one more confirmation that the last days are ending and earth’s last seven years and the age of Antichrist are at the door. It appears the feet of the Antichrist’s empire is getting ready to attach itself to Islam, the body of the Antichrist.

‘The feet of a Bear’… is somehow proof positive, in the eyes of many prophecy hawks, that Russia is the intended subject of all prophecies that use this description. Mildly compelling, if even.
The arguments over which – person or kingdom – the Beast will be, should probably have been put to rest after studying Daniel and Revelation, both of which make it abundantly clear that the beasts are BOTH: there is ALWAYS a ‘man’ in whom the kingdom is singularly personified. That’s the model. Why bother straying from it or arguing about it. There will be A Beast and there will be A Beast Kingdom. The two are sometimes conflated in Scripture, but the prophets have spoken on the matter so there really shouldn’t be so much confusion about it all.
Re the Beast (the man) rising out of Syria
At present it is my opinion that a Syrian Antichrist is nothing more than a convincing feint away from the authentic (authentic being a poor choice of word to describe the ultimate counterfeit, but you know what I mean). Bashar al-Assad is an interesting decoy. His former surname (before his father changed it) was al-Wahash. That is ‘The Beast’ in Arabic. Assad would also satisfy an enigmatic verse from Daniel:
…in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man…
AYIN AYIN is the way the Aramaic appears in the MS – so ‘insight into the eyes of a man’ would be a possible translation. Assad was an opthamologist before he became president of Syria. Assad was also born on 9-11. That’s an interesting Book of Revelation connection and it is also an interesting birth date for other reasons – most notably being the theory that Messiah Himself was born on that date in the year 3 B.C. There are a few other trivial bits to round out the list, making Assad a character worth watching. But that being said, I can’t see any way, considering the totality of prophecy, that THE Antichrist will be a mere man. The Antichrist will have to be a superman or a ‘god.’ So unless modern medicine gets a move-on perfecting their tampering with human genetics, then Assad’s use-by date will probably expire before he could be used as a vessel suitable for permitting The Beast to encroach upon this world. I used to advocate for Assad as the likeliest candidate for the job, but presently I find it unlikely in the extreme that THE Beast will manifest in this world as either a man or a mere human. I believe it scripturally imperative that THE Beast will be both OTHER than a man and OTHER than human. Messiah was a man. That argues that His opposite will not be; in fact, cannot be. In Scripture, the role of leadership falls to the man – the role of ruler-ship even more so. So if the Beast is the ultimate usurper… Goddess worship, anyone?

And we of course all know that you meant the LEOPARD is not a symbol of Islam. And to my knowledge, I would have to agree. I’ve never seen anything associating Islam with a leopard.

Really? I thought they did a pretty good job of making it (appear) clear that Putin has his feet firmly planted in the moral high ground in this case. It’s all theater, but to describe Russia as being aggressive in this instance, I believe strays from the plotline by a significant margin.

Assad is a secular reformer, not a religious despotic dictator that America seems to favor eg Saudi Arabia and their many armed trained and funded Islamic terrorist groups, ISIS, ISIL and Al-CIAder. Every single religious dictatorship we have today, were all created by America one way or another.
Putin is a devout Christian and Russia is not king of the north, Russia is not north of Palestine, Turkey is, and Gog and Magog were both cities in Turkey.
I don’t actually mean either Assad or Putin. I only commented on the article – not write it (my comments show or not show my agreement). I am beginning to think the word “antichrist” is irrelevant to the end-times. The Revelation speaks of a “beast”. The beast will have a leader or ruler (for certain) but I am starting to consider the beast as an empire and not specifically a person. All the other beasts in scripture constitute an empire although they have a ruler.
