Jesus did away with the sacrifices and festivals not the health laws or God’s Law the Ten Commandments.

…Ammi…Eating the proscribed foods is not a sin to death, but it is a sin against your body.

        • Amminadab

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “What? Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own? 20 For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

And 1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

Do we defile our bodies if we knowingly eat foods laced with chemicals that can make the body sick and die? Sadly, most of us do and without any fear of the following warning.

1 Corinthians 3:17 “If any man defiles the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.”

…Ammi…we ingest deadly unnatural compounds in our food, in our water, in the very air we breathe…..That’s life in these end times. What are we to do about it? Eating a lobster won’t hurt my body as much as breathing while walking around traffic. I’d think that eating GMO beef would be worse than naturally grown pork chops. We all get where we are going. I feel blessed to have FOOD.

Ah, the benefit and privilege of having the authority
to bless our food and drink.
              Chase off all them curses.

or God’s Law the Ten Commandments.

“Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” Jesus said to him, ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”
        (Matthew 22:36-40 NET)

I believe the above scripture pretty much wraps up the 10 commandments. Jesus who is God gave the law of the New Covenant.

        • qaneh-bosem honestyherb

So, Y’shua fulfilled the Law and Prophets by
Loving Father with all of His heart, soul, mind, strength,
and Loved His neighbor as Himself, for surely

Because surely He didn’t go doing all 613 of them, some of them being for females, and some of them if we did them would send us to hell.

So, , He did say though that He fulfilled all that was prophesied about Him in the Instructions, Prophets, and Psalms.

The key to understanding Colossians 2:16 is found two verses earlier in Colossians 2:14. The key phrase is, “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances.” The Greek word for blotting is “exaleipho”, pronounced “ex-al-i’-fo”. Strong’s dictionary gives the definition; “to smear out, that is, obliterate (erase tears, figuratively pardon sin): – blot out, wipe away.” The next keyword in this verse is “handwriting” and the Greek word is “cheirographon”, pronounced “khi-rog’-raf-on” and the definition is, “something handwritten (”chirograph”), that is, a manuscript (specifically a legal document or bond (figuratively)): – handwriting.” And the last and final very important word we need to look at is “ordinances”, Greek word is “dogma”, pronounced “dog’-mah” and the Strong’s definition is “a law (civil, ceremonial or ecclesiastical): – decree, ordinance.”

Did you note the last one? It means “a law”, but what type of law? The two words we should be very familiar with now are “ceremonial” i.e., “ceremonial law” and “ordinances” which comprised the things contained in the ceremonial law.

The Thayer dictionary is even clearer and you will note that it does not say the Ten Commandments. It directly and unmistakably says the “Law of Moses” outright. Thayer Definition: “The rules and requirements of the Law of Moses; carrying a suggestion of severity and of threatened judgment.”

So what was nailed to the cross as Paul explains in verse 14? The “Law of Moses,” which is also called the “Mosaic Law”, the “Book of the Law” and as we have just seen by the definition given by the KJV Bible, the “Ordinances.” There should be no doubt that the ceremonial law is not the Moral law and that Paul has said that we no longer need to observe the holy feast days that were associated with the ordinances as some erroneously teach. This was the whole problem that Paul was addressing as some Jews were still doing this.

The ceremonial law was for Israel alone as the Gospel did not go to the Gentiles for 3.5 years after Jesus died on the cross. This is why there is so much confusion between the ceremonial law and the Ten Commandments. That one and final perfect sacrifice of Jesus ended this whole sacrificial system, thankfully giving us no requirement to obey this law.

The Old Testament, or covenant, that God made with his people, the law which “can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect”, was done away with two-thousand years ago, and the New Testament, or covenant, where God said he will put his “laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts,” is now in force (Heb. 10:1; 8:10). Unfortunately, many modern-day Christians don’t understand the difference between the old covenant “handwriting of ordinances that was against us”, and the new covenant laws of God that he writes in our hearts (Col. 2:14; Heb. 8:10). The former was “the law of commandments contained in ordinances” which pronounced the penalty of sin and was “a witness against thee” (Deut. 31:24-26; Ezek. 18:4; Eph. 2:15; Jam. 1:15). The latter is the law of God’s “everlasting righteousness” of “the ten commandments” “written with the finger of God” on the “two tables of testimony” and now written “upon the table of thine heart.” (Ex. 31:18; Deut. 9:10; 10:4; Psa. 119:142-151; Prov. 4:20-22; 7:1-3). If you are a true born again Christian, having repented and forsaken your sins, placing your faith in Jesus Christ’s sinless life, atoning death on the cross and resurrection from the dead, and are “sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all”, “preserved in Jesus Christ,” “called to be saints,” “born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God,” then the laws of God contained in the ten commandments, even “the words of eternal life” which “are life unto those that find them,” are written “with the Spirit of the living God” in the table of your heart (Prov. 4:22; 28:13; John 6:63,68; I Cor. 1:2; II Cor. 3:3; Heb. 8:10; 10:10; I Pet. 1:23; Jude 1:1).

“Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.” (Psalms 119:18,19)

The distinction between clean and unclean animals was known about in Noah’s day, long before God gave the health laws to the Jewish people:

Genesis 7:2-3 “Of every CLEAN beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are NOT CLEAN by two, the male and his female. Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female.”

      3. After the great Flood of Noah’s day, meat was permitted in the diet, however the blood was not to be eaten:

Genesis 9:3-5 “Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant. Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.”

It is clear however that there was a distinction between clean and unclean animals. Unclean animals were not even considered as fit to eat. It is understood that only clean meats were to be used as food, as there were more of them in the ark. (Genesis 8:20 “Noah took of every clean beast and every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings.” If unclean meats were to be eaten and sacrificed, there would not be a pair of them left to propagate, to enable the command in verse 17: “Bring forth with thee every living thing that they may breed abundantly in the earth.”)

      Ephraim wrote:

“I believe the above scripture pretty much wraps up the 10 commandments. Jesus who is God gave the law of the New Covenant.”

Messiah didn’t give us an ‘instead of’ when He came to show us what perfect observance of the Law looked like. He just taught us about the mistakes our fathers were making when they made an idol out of the Law. When they did so, they strayed from the mark.

To rightly understand the Law is to see that it would never have been abrogated by Messiah (or by Paul) even to the slightest degree. The Law is a roadmap out of the wilderness of beast-nature behavior. The Law teaches how to live in this world according to the Will of our Father in Heaven. We are all born in the image of ADAM. We are not created in the image of God. Adam was created in the image of God, but after Adam fell, he begat in his own image:

      Genesis 5:3

And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth…

To become born again in the likeness of The SON is the goal to which The Way leads. The Law is nothing other than the Instructions, the very road map itself, for rightly navigating the journey from existence from the First (fleshly – beast-nature) Adam to the Second (spiritual – spirit-nature) Adam. To even suggest that the Law (including any and all dietary statutes and ordinances) has been altered or abolished, is to have mistaken the very character and purpose of the Law.

All suggestions by Bible translators such as this parenthetical insertion:

“(This means all foods are clean – NET note.)”

…are not only a direct violation of the Scriptural admonition against ADDING to the Word, but are a flagrant contradiction of the Spirit of the Word and the Instructions of the Most High.

      Maximus wrote:

“I’d think that eating GMO beef would be worse than naturally grown pork chops.”

Have the spooky lab coats even genetically altered beef and put it on sale yet? I don’t think they have. Here’s the problem – you’re looking at this from a human perspective. God said don’t eat the pig. But beyond the fact that a pig is an unclean animal, He didn’t say why. We can learn, if we’re so inclined, that a pig’s stomach will empty out about 45 minutes after eating – processing anything and everything it wolfs down into fat very quickly. It takes a clean ruminant, like a cow or a goat, about four hours to empty the stomach after eating. The slow digestive system of the ruminant allows time to evacuate the contaminants eaten, rather than storing those contaminants in fat and muscle tissue, like the pig does. And that’s just ONE scientific reason for why the biblical dietary guidelines should be obeyed in all cases and at all times.

Try to imagine the Apostle Paul, dying of hunger, with a pulled pork sandwich in his lap. I suggest to you in the strongest of terms, that Paul would have starved before he ever tasted it. Care for the body comes after care for the spirit. Paul said so himself many times. Living outside the guidelines of our Father’s Instructions is unhealthy for the spirit. We still live in a world where it is EASY to observe the dietary guidelines. Our Father provides. Why not avail ourselves of His providence in all cases?

…Walter…I agree with you enthusiastically. What I’m saying is that if you eat a lobster or a piece of bacon, it is not a sin to death…..I’m sure if you ate pork every day, it would eventually clog your arteries and cause a lot of other problems. But its not gonna condemn anybody to hell.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” – Galatians 6:7

“It is just as much sin to violate the laws of our being as to break one of the ten commandments, for we cannot do either without breaking God’s law. We cannot love the Lord with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength while we are loving our appetites, our tastes, a great deal better than we love the Lord. We are daily lessening our strength to glorify God, when He requires all our strength, all our mind. By our wrong habits we are lessening our hold on life, and yet professing to be Christ’s followers, preparing for the finishing touch of immortality.” Counsels on Diet 44.3

Ponder this significant fact carefully. If certain animals were identified as unclean before the flood; if they were still counted as unclean when Peter rejected them in his vision; if they are still called unclean in Revelation 18:2, where it speaks of “unclean” birds; and if Isaiah declares that all who are eating swine and the abomination at the time of the second advent will be consumed (Isaiah 66:15-17), how can we feel that they are now fit to eat? When did they become clean?

          • maxxy

…Mk. 7-18…..”Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, IT cannot defile him. 19; because it entereth not into his heart, but into his belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
…20; And He said, ‘That which cometh out of the man’, that defileth the man…………….”

      • Ephraim

        Walter,
I will again say, Jesus was and is God. He gave the Mosaic Laws and He could have said that the Mosaic Law stands forever but He did not. Instead, He gave the Sermon on the Mount which has the appearances (at least to me) of giving the Law of the New Covenant. If one desires to live their life by the Mosaic Laws then go ahead – no harm done. To claim or hint that God the Son cannot redefine God the Father (both are the same God) is a mistake in my opinion. To claim that Paul would stave rather than eat a pork sandwich is a speculative opinion.

The law is in our hearts guided by the Holy Spirit, who is also God. Dietary laws are important and as long as we currently live in a civilized section of the world with plenty of choices for food and funds to buy what we need then we are blessed with the capacity to eat beneficial foods. People living in slum areas of Africa, South America, and other places do not have that blessing. Anything edible from a trash bin would be a banquet to them even a pork sandwich.

It is not that the majority of Mosaic laws have changed but rather the arbiter of those laws is the indwelling Holy Spirit and not a book being held in the hand of a priest. Jesus said that He is the fulfillment of the “laws and prophets”. Jesus as God is now our law giver of the New Covenant just as He was the law giver of the Old Covenant Israelites. In my opinion a person living by the letter of the Mosaic law is denying the authority of the New Covenant given by Jesus Christ to all subjects of the Kingdom of God. It is almost denying that Jesus was and is God. Jesus Christ is God and He spoke as God recorded in the Gospels. God the Father is not a higher authority than God the Son. They are the same God (which will be the subject of my next post).

Question: In Mark chapter 7, did Jesus declare all animals clean, thereby declaring a change in the status of previously unclean animals, removing the prohibition against eating them?
My answer: The unclean animals were, and still are, unclean in the same manner that Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Daniel understood them to be from God. Nothing Jesus said changed the status of unclean animals. He did not repeal the laws prohibiting the eating of unclean animals, and unclean animals are never given the status of being fit for food.

Question: Were previously unclean animals now fit for sacrifices in the temple as a result of Jesus’ declaration?
My Answer: No, they never were fit for sacrifice, and nothing Jesus said changed that.

Question: If one maintains that Jesus changed the status of previously unclean animals, and removed God’s restrictions against eating them, then I ask you, did a change also physically occur in the animals themselves, such that they were now fit for consumption, when previously they were an abomination?
My answer: The unclean animals did not change in any respect as a result of Jesus’ teaching. They were a health hazard in the Old Testament, polluted and intrinsically unfit for human consumption, and they remain so today.

Question: Then what exactly did Jesus say? What was He teaching? Look at the parallel passage in Matthew:
The scribes and Pharisees condemn Jesus’ disciples for not washing their hands

Mat 15:1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
Mat 15:2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
Mat 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

Jesus condemns the traditions of the scribes and Pharisees

Mat 15:4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
          Mat 15:5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
Mat 15:6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
Mat 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
Mat 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Mat 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Jesus again condemns the scribes and Pharisees tradition with a parable

Mat 15:10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
Mat 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
Mat 15:12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
Mat 15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
Mat 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
          Jesus explains the parable

Mat 15:15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
Mat 15:16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
Mat 15:17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
Mat 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
Mat 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
Mat 15:20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

Question: Did Jesus conclude that the biblically unclean foods were now clean?
My Answer: No, He concluded that a man is not defiled by unwashed hands. Repeal of the biblically unclean foods prohibitions was simply not under discussion in the context of the passage. If that were what the scribes and Pharisees had understood Him to say, they would have gone berserk in their condemnation of Jesus, and would have charged him with heresy in abandoning or contradicting the dietary restrictions of God, but this they never did, because Jesus never did say or imply any such thing.

Question: So according to Jesus, does food defile a man?
My Answer: No, it does not, not in the sense Jesus was speaking about.

Question: In the context of Jesus’ teaching, what was meant by “defileth” in verse 11?
My Answer: The scribes and Pharisees were condemning the disciples for not washing their hands, implying that they were therefore defiled or unclean, because Jesus’ disciples did not follow the traditions of the elders. Jesus replied by rebuking the scribes and Pharisees, saying that nothing a man puts into his mouth defiles the heart, defilement which He defined as “evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, [and] blasphemies”. The scribes and Pharisees, and Jesus, were speaking on two entirely different levels, the scribes and Pharisees were concerned with the cleanliness of the hands, and Jesus the cleanliness of the heart. Jesus was saying that nothing a man eats results in an unclean (sinful) heart, rather what a man says and does reveals the state of his heart. In other words, there is no direct cause and effect between any food and “evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, [and] blasphemies”, so neither does unwashed hands produce these things either. Yet Jesus was not saying that the biblically unclean foods were now changed, and now healthy to eat, nor was He removing the biblical prohibitions against eating them. They were and still are polluted, contaminated and foul, hazards to your health.

        • CAPTAIN CHAOS!!

          “Jesus was and is God.”

          You’ll get no argument here.

“He gave the Mosaic Laws and He could have said that the Mosaic Law stands forever but He did not.”

The term used in the Old Testament is HA OLAM. That means pretty much the same thing as AIONIAN from the New Testament – i.e., age-abiding. And Messiah’s words from Matthew 5:18 are about as clear as it gets.

“Instead, He gave the Sermon on the Mount which has the appearances (at least to me) of giving the Law of the New Covenant.”

Here’s a question I’ve not heard definitively addressed by any of us: When WAS, or when IS the beginning of the New Covenant? Do you have His Law inscribed upon your heart of flesh? Do I? Or are we both still a work in progress, slowly becoming even as our King IS. Aren’t our hearts still hard as stone?

“If one desires to live their life by the Mosaic Laws then go ahead – no harm done.”

I never like hearing that. This is a matter of following His Instructions… not a matter of our personal choice.

“To claim or hint that God the Son cannot redefine God the Father (both are the same God) is a mistake in my opinion.”

That’s a mistake you can mark me down for making, then. The Most High doesn’t change, nor is He re-defined – even by Himself. He IS now just as He always has been and will always be. Only our perception of Him changes. Only our understanding changes. Messiah teaches. We learn. There is no change in the Mighty One.

“To claim that Paul would stave rather than eat a pork sandwich is a speculative opinion.”

It’s a matter of faith – not a matter of speculation. Paul would hold fast to the Instruction. If that meant starving, then so be it. But he would hope, certainly, for death by starvation to be averted by providence from on High. I can’t give you a verse for Paul’s pork sandwich, but I’m most confident I speak according to the Word.

“…and funds to buy what we need…”

Lacking funds isn’t a reason to starve. It’s a reason to walk by faith, not taking care for the next meal, but placing all hope in the Highest. I’ve never had to do this. It’s a fearsome proposition, but it’s one many of us will experience as a matter of the Refiner’s Fire before we go the way of all the Earth. Please don’t mistake me for speaking of these things with a cavalier attitude.

“…blessed with the capacity to eat *beneficial* foods.”

It doesn’t take extra money to eat according to the dietary statutes explained in the Law. Moreover, if we’re trying to obey Him, He will always provide.

“People living in slum areas of Africa, South America, and other places do not have that blessing.”

Not so. If a believer and a seeker finds himself in the desert, starvation is not a certainty. The Most High provides for the wellbeing of His people, no matter where they are in this world… or the other.

“Anything edible from a trash bin would be a banquet to them even a pork sandwich.”

          Now who is speculating?

“It is not that the majority of Mosaic laws have changed but rather the arbiter of those laws is the indwelling Holy Spirit and not a book being held in the hand of a priest.”

I agree with that statement, most emphatically.

“Jesus said that He is the fulfillment of the “laws and prophets”.”

He is. Messiah is the END of the Law – as in the means to an end. He is the Law fulfilled. That’s hardly the same thing as saying those same statutes and ordinances He obeyed to the fullest are no longer binding on us. This is a crucial distinction to comprehend.

“In my opinion a person living by the letter of the Mosaic law is denying the authority of the New Covenant given by Jesus Christ…”

That’s more than just your opinion. That’s what Scripture says. There is the LETTER of the Law, and there is the SPIRIT of the Law, which the Pharisees well learned when they brought the adulteress to Messiah for His answer to their ‘test.’ Do you think at that time Messiah bent or disobeyed the Law? Do you think He re-invented it? Or did He fulfill it to perfection.

“It is almost denying that Jesus was and is God.”

Striving for justification by obeying the Law is denial of the Son. This is the distinction. Nothing changed about the Law. The Jews were obeying the Law in the wrong spirit. They sought for justification by their own righteousness. Messiah exposed the error of their doing so, and taught us the correct way to pursue the Law.

“God the Father is not a higher authority than God the Son. “

What means Messiah then by: “I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.”

      TO ALL COMMENTORS

Do you recommend following all 613 laws or just the ones you are comfortable with. Here is a list of all the 613 laws if you wish to peruse them: http://gods-word-first.org/bible-study/613commandments.html

I am supposing the 10 Torah laws would be dismissed as well as the 19 temple and priestly laws. It is certain the 53 sacrificial laws would go as well as the 10 Nazirite laws. There are also 68 other sacrifice laws and 11 additional priest laws that are of no value. We don’t deal with lepers, castigate our menstrual wives or people with running sores, red heifer laws are not apropos. I am certain you don’t honor the temple donation laws, gleaning laws, first fruits laws, sabbatical laws, eat locusts, eat bird nests, the festival laws, appoint kings. The 5 Idolatry laws are probably not an issue and we don’t declare war or own slaves.

Honoring God and family, avoid idolatry and demonic activity are important and were emphasized by Jesus.

Some people are cross-dressers or have tattoos with is against the law, although I am not guilty of either. The laws concerning Egypt, Canaanites, Ammonites, Moabites, Esau, or Amalek are not an issue.

The 7 blasphemy laws are good and I follow them. Some of the dietary laws are just common sense today and I don’t intend to eat a found dead animal. Some of the new crops and 3rd or 4th harvest laws are not followed by anyone today other than perhaps a few Jews. We don’t make offerings prior to eating certain crops. The debt laws are not followed by anyone I know or the treatment of slave laws.

Stealing, slandering, and misleading are civil laws and I don’t do these things anyway. I am not an actual judge and I attempt not to judge people otherwise. The incest laws, homosexual laws, bestiality laws, and adultery laws are no problem for me and probably not for you as well.

Going through the list, there are laws that I observe and I will assume that a real Christian would observe as well. The majority of the dietary laws that apply are followed. However, I will admit that I eat a pork chop on occasion.

I almost did not submit this article because I was certain I would be misunderstood and misinterpreted. The few laws I follow are those that pertain to me and other than eating a pork chop the laws I need to follow are ingrained in me by the Holy Spirit. I have no problem with the Mosaic Laws as some seem to have. I can live by the Sermon on the Mount, which appears to cover all my issues and continue being a subject of the Kingdom of God.

However, if you can make a list of the laws needed to live by (minus the sacrificial, idolatry, sexual, civil, Nazirite, slave ownership, family oriented, offerings, blasphemy, and honoring God) it would be appreciated.

There aren’t 613 of anything, save for an itemized list the rabbis have compiled. You think the statutes for Nazarites are defunct? Why? Why do you imagine no one has a Nazarite Vow? You think the ordinances dealing with servitude no longer apply? Why? Did you ever read Paul’s letters, wherein he repeatedly refers to himself as the ‘slave’ of Messiah?

We have no Temple at which to sacrifice. But are we without a Temple?

You are in a hurry to compile your own list of the statutes and ordinances which you say no longer apply, because they have no meaning in this modern world. But did you hear Paul when he said:

For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?

“It was impossible for the sinner to keep the law of God, which was holy, just, and good; but this impossibility was removed by the impartation of the righteousness of Christ to the repenting, believing soul. The life and death of Christ in behalf of sinful man were for the purpose of restoring the sinner to God’s favor, through imparting to him the righteousness that would meet the claims of the law and find acceptance with the Father.
But it is ever the purpose of Satan to make void the law of God and to pervert the true meaning of the plan of salvation. Therefore he has originated the falsehood that the sacrifice of Christ on Calvary’s cross was for the purpose of freeing men from the obligation of keeping the commandments of God. He has foisted upon the world the deception that God has abolished His constitution, thrown away His moral standard, and made void His holy and perfect law. Had He done this, at what terrible expense would it have been to Heaven! Instead of proclaiming the abolition of the law, Calvary’s cross proclaims in thunder tones its immutable and eternal character. Could the law have been abolished, and the government of heaven and earth and the unnumbered worlds of God maintained, Christ need not have died. The death of Christ was to forever settle the question of the validity of the law of Jehovah. Having suffered the full penalty for a guilty world, Jesus became the Mediator between God and man, to restore the repenting soul to favor with God by giving him grace to keep the law of the Most High. Christ came not to destroy the law or the prophets, but to fulfill them to the very letter. The atonement of Calvary vindicated the law of God as holy, just, and true, not only before the fallen world but before heaven and before the worlds unfallen. Christ came to magnify the law and to make it honorable.” -Faith and Works page 118

Satan “has foisted upon the world the deception that God has abolished His constitution, thrown away His moral standard, and made void His holy and perfect law.”

That’s the fact, Jack. And how has Satan managed to sell the ruse with such widespread success, considering that most of the main translations into English don’t ever say that the Law was done away with, is itself some kind of mystery. There’s certainly nothing anywhere in the King James to that effect. Yet King James ‘onlyists’ hold up that version in support of their contention that the Law is now vacant.

“Could the law have been abolished… …Christ need not have died.”

That is the beginning and the end of it.

Jeremiah 31:33 “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

And here we find the fulfilment of Jeremiah 31:33 in the book of Hebrews.

Hebrews 8:6-10 “But now has he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. 8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: 9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:”

The Bible tells us that Christ came as the Mediator of a new covenant (verse 6). The belief that the New Covenant abolishes the Ten Commandments reflects a misunderstanding of both covenants. God tells us that He altered the original covenant and made “a better covenant, which was established upon better promises” (verse 6). But it was not established on different laws. The law stayed the same. There was however a weakness or fault in the original covenant. That fault was with the people, NOT with the law. “For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:” (verse 8). It was “because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.” (verse 9).

In the Old Covenant God wrote His Ten Commandments on tablets of stone. It was external and not part of the thinking and motives of the people. It was in their literature but NOT in their hearts. In the New Covenant God writes His law “into their minds, and writes them in their hearts.” (verse 10).

To enable people to internalise His law, to love it and obey it eagerly and willingly, God makes this promise, Ezekiel 36:26-27 “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my judgments, and do them.”

So the New Covenant does not change the Ten Commandment law. We also find that Exodus 31:13-17 says the Sabbath is a special sign and a perpetual never ending covenant between God and the children of Israel forever. But some will say, that does not apply to us because we are not Israel. But the question is; who is Israel today?

Exodus 31:13-17 “Speak you also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my Sabbaths you shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that you may know that I am the LORD that does sanctify you. … 16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. 17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.”

God is the author of the biblical health laws. The Bible reveals that God does not change (Malachi 3:6), which means that His fundamental laws do not change. The laws of biology did not suddenly change, or stop operating, when Jesus died on the cross! The same factors that caused or prevented disease in the days of Moses still operate today.

Most ancient cultures had extensive lists of medicines and procedures for treating disease. The health laws that God gave to Moses, however, did not focus on treating disease, but instead focused on preventing disease and promoting health! This is why medical historian Ralph Major describes Moses as “the greatest sanitary engineer that the world has ever seen” because “Moses recognized the great principle that the prevention of disease is usually simpler and invariably more far reaching than the cure of disease… His doctrines [in the book of Leviticus] could be summed up by the objects of sanitation today—pure food, pure water, pure air, pure bodies and pure dwellings” (A History of Medicine, vol. 1, pp. 62–64). The biblical health laws are timeless! They were valid in the days of Moses, and they are just as valid—and applicable—today. The Bible reveals that when Jesus Christ returns to establish the Kingdom of God on this earth, the laws of God will be proclaimed to the world from Jerusalem (Isaiah 2:2–4). As human beings around the globe learn to live by these simple yet fundamentally important laws, their health will improve—and the plague of disease will begin to disappear (Isaiah 35:5–7). This is part of the gospel! You can play a vital role in this incredible transformation (Isaiah 30:20–21)—if you learn the value of applying these biblical health laws in your own life today!

The Ten Commandments and the Health Laws were known from the beginning.

Few professing Christians realize that the laws of God contained in the ten commandments were in effect prior to the giving of the law at Mt. Sinai. Consider Genesis 26:5, “Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.” What laws of God did Abraham obey centuries before Moses? Long before the Israelites arrived at Mt. Sinai they broke the fourth commandment seventh day sabbath that God commanded them to keep: “And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws? See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath… the seventh day.” (Ex. 16:27-29). The second commandment prohibits the worship of images and bowing before a statue. Long before Moses’ time Genesis 31:19 records that Rachel, Jacob’s wife, stole the graven images from the home of her idolatrous father. Genesis 35:2 is evidence the patriarchs knew idol worship was sin. Now, John said that “sin is the transgression of the law.” (I John 3:4). And Paul said that “sin is not imputed when there is no law.” (Rom. 5:13). Yet, when Cain murdered his brother Abel, God punished him for breaking the sixth commandment: “And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.” (Gen. 4:8-13). And in Genesis chapter 39, long before the law was given by Moses, adultery, which the seventh commandment prohibits, is recognized as “great wickedness, and sin against God” (Gen. 39:9). These Bible references are just a few of the many we could examine as evidence that humanity was aware of God’s law well before He wrote it in stone. A prayerful and careful examination of Scripture, with a humble repented heart, will show that the ten commandments existed before the law was given at Mt. Sinai (see Gen. 4:3-5; 8-13; 9:22-27; 12:10-20; 18:20-21; 27; 31:19-34; 35:2-4; 37:28-35; 39:9; 44:4-10; 50:15-17 Ex. 5; 16:22-29;).

Christ taught that “the Sabbath was made for man.” Mark 2:27. Some seem to think that since Jesus said this that we can choose not to keep it or choose our own day. But this is just another excuse for treading the Son of God underfoot. (Hebrews 10:26-29) Note also that Jesus did not say the Sabbath was made for “Jews.” He said the Sabbath was made for “man” meaning all people!

        The People’s New Testament (1891) by B. W. Johnson
“The Sabbath was made for man. The Sabbath rest; that is, a rest of one day in seven was made for man, not for Jews only. This implies that it is to be a universal institution; that the good of man requires it, and that it is not an arbitrary enactment, but a wise and benevolent provision for the welfare of the race. Experience shows that men are happiest, most moral, most prosperous and healthiest where it is devoutly observed.”

Man was made on the sixth day and the only reason we have a seventh day of the week is because God added it for a Sabbath rest for man. Hence the Sabbath was made for man at creation so what has changed? Absolutely nothing!

The fact is that all the Commandments were made for man. So does this mean we can choose to ignore all of the other Commandments as well? Obviously not!

So what was happening when Jesus said this?

The Pharisees assumed the Sabbath was made just for them so Jesus corrected them stating that the Sabbath was made to be a blessing for ALL man and not a day of legalistic rules that they had enforced. They had accused Jesus of breaking the Sabbath by picking corn for sustenance and so Jesus pointed out that the Sabbath was made to be a blessing to man and not a burden.

This statement of Jesus in Mark 2:27 is not some magical subclause that annuls the fourth Commandment!

Picking corn on the Sabbath for nourishment was a necessity. It was not wrong for Jesus to heal the sick and to meet human needs on His Holy Day. (Matthew 12:10-12) Jesus said that not even a comma of the law is going to change (Matthew 5:17-19) and Isaiah prophesied “The LORD … will MAGNIFY the law…” (Isaiah 42:21) not make the law less strict by allowing us to pick and choose if we want to obey a Commandment or not. God Commanded, “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy … the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.” Exodus 20:8-10.

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

            The Prophetic Shadow Sabbaths

Verse 17 is saying that the sabbath days referred to in verse 16 were “shadows” of things to come. So what does that mean?

            Heb 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
Heb 8:2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
Heb 8:3 For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
Heb 8:4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
Heb 8:5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern showed to thee in the mount.

Heb 9:8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
            Heb 9:9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
Heb 9:10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
            Heb 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Heb 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Heb 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Heb 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
Heb 10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
Heb 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
            Heb 10:8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
Heb 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

The law spoken of there is the ceremonial law, the yearly calendar connected with the symbolic sacrificial system of animal sacrifices, and offerings of food and drink at the Temple. As Heb 10:4 states, the animal sacrifices were incapable of taking away sins, and those sacrifices were offered repeatedly year by year (v. 1), according to the ceremonial law. These powerless sacrifices could only remind the sinner of their sin (v. 3). But the body of Christ is introduced in verse 5, which would be offered once to take away sins (v. 10). As verse 9 states, the first (ceremonial animal sacrifices) were taken away by the second, the sacrifice of Christ. So it is the ceremonial system of animal sacrifices and their associated shadow sabbaths that ended at the cross. That is also what Hebrews 9, cited above, is saying, that this reformation happened with the shedding of Christ’s blood, providing the eternal redemption that was not possible by the animal sacrifices of the earthly (first) tabernacle.

Ezekiel refers to the ceremonial sacrificial offerings to be made at the tabernacle in a way nearly identical to Colossians:

Ezek 45:17 And it shall be the prince’s part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.

Scripture makes a distinction between the ten commandments and ceremonial law.

We don’t keep the Ten Commandments to get Jesus in us. It is when we accept Him and receive in us that we keep them. Think of it this way… People in the prisons are NOT released from prison on parole until they can prove they will keep the laws of the land. Why would the Almighty be any different? Why would He let those that break His law into His kingdom? If you can’t keep the laws of His land, why should He let you into it? Now do you understand why it is written in, Revelation 22:14, “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.”

The awesome thing about the New Covenant is that Jesus will HELP us keep His Law!

There are those who live “under the law” and to them Paul became, he tells us, as one under the law (“though not being myself under the law”), that he might win them.

And to those who do not have the law he became as one “without law” that he might win them also.

He cautiously qualifies this by saying also, “not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ”.

ALL the Laws have NOT been abrogated .. ” not one dot shall be removed ”

On these TWO commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22:40

Y’shua fulfilled the Law for US who believe, and when you ask Him into your heart, He will come into you and then you will understand, that it’s Christ in you, that allows you to enter His Sabbath rest.

The following facts prove the Sabbath does remain a physically rest and that the excuse Jesus is our Sabbath rest is just one more fallacy from our adversary.

          1. The Greek word for “rest” (sabbatismos) in Hebrews 4:9 unquestionably refers to a physical rest and a literal “Sabbath keeping” or “Sabbath observance.”
          2. It was more than 30 years after the cross that Luke wrote that when the body of Christ was being prepared, “they rested the Sabbath day according to the Commandment.” (Luke 23:56) The New Covenant was sealed by the blood of Jesus on Friday night when He died on the cross, and yet Luke says they were still physically keeping the Sabbath according to the Commandment and after the New Covenant had begun. Any lawyer and the Word will tell you that it cannot be changed after the death of a testator. This one alone kills this appalling excuse!
          3. Isaiah 66:22-23 says we still physically keep the Sabbath in the New Heaven and Earth.
          4. Jesus words show that everyone would still be physically keeping the Sabbath at 70 A.D. (Matthew 24:20)
          5. The Sabbath cannot be a spiritual rest if one had to worry about physically fleeing on this day.
          6. Our Creator knew man needs a physical rest at least one day a week and Jesus as our Lord does not change that requirement.
          7. God and His law changes not. Hebrews 13:8, Psalms 111:7-8, Luke 16:17.

How did the Old Covenant fail?

Deu 5:27 Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.
Deu 5:28 And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.
Deu 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

Deu 31:16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.

Rom 9:31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
          Rom 9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
Rom 9:33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

The Old Covenant is called by Paul the ministration of death and condemnation: The New Covenant is the ministration of the spirit, and the ministration of righteousness:

2 Cor 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
2 Cor 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
2 Cor 3:8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
2 Cor 3:9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.

How is the New Covenant different?

Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

The animal sacrifices under the Old Covenant were mere symbols of the yet to be sacrificed lamb of God, whose sacrifice, death, and shed blood would inaugurate the New Covenant. The New Covenant is also made with Israel:

Heb 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
Heb 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Heb 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Heb 10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
          Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Heb 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
          Heb 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
          Heb 10:21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
          Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised;

Rom 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

The terms or substance of the New Covenant are the same as that of the Old Covenant, obedience to the Ten Commandments. However, the New Covenant is a better promise, a promise by God to write His laws into the hearts and minds of the people of Israel, and to remember their sins no more.

” He said, “What comes out of a person defiles him. (21) For from within, out of the human heart, come evil ideas, sexual immorality, theft, murder, (22) adultery, greed, evil, deceit, debauchery, envy, slander, pride, and folly.”

That is not what the original version says. It doesn’t mention sexual immorality or debauchery, Christianity when it was a state enforced dictatorship invented that. Dionysus preached emancipation, freedom of expression, and that his father Zeus was all compassionate and loves everyone. Women should be sexually free, not property of a squashed penis slave master. Same as people should not be property of king, but to ‘get out from amongst them’, walk away and watch the corrupt system based on slavery, including debt slavery, implode in on itself. A very good comparison is the 60′s flower power hippy movement, they got it right, property and care free.

Christianity began life as a state dictatorship, twisted the Dionysus message of emancipation of the masses because it’s a danger to the corrupt psychopath ruling the world. The name of your religion is a dead give away… Christ-I-anti’s.

2 Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
      2 Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away (apostasia: G646) first, and that man of sin (lawlessness) be revealed, the son of perdition;
2 Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. (see this page)
2 Th 2:5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
2 Th 2:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
2 Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity (lawlessness) doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
2 Th 2:8 And then shall that Wicked (lawless one) be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
2 Th 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
2 Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness (lawlessness) in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2 Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2 Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness (lawlessness).

Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity (lawlessness).

      Sin, Iniquity, Wicked, and Unrighteousness

1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

John gives us this precise definition of sin, which would also apply to iniquity, wicked, and unrighteousness, as shown in the parenthesis above. The terms are synonymous (1 John 5:17). So what is the truth that the lost refuse to receive?

Psa 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
