am123,
This is posted for you.
Thank you, but what you seem to be saying doesn’t line up with the Word.
Regarding Hebrews 8:13, you said:
“Verse 13 is the scripture that confuses the majority of people. It has been believed and stated by many that the Law of Moses is growing old and is soon to vanish!”
The Law of Moses, and by that I mean the system of rules and regulations of temple worship implemented by Moses, WILL be done away with when this present heavens and earth are done away with. The temple rules and regulations of worship will be according Ezekiel’s rules and regulations.
The Law of Moses will no longer be in effect when this current earth and heaven are done away with:
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
—Matthew 5:17-18
Hebrews tells us the Law will eventually vanish:
“In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.”
—Hebrews 8:13
The Law of Moses will have fulfilled its purpose and will be done away with once God creates a new heaven and new earth. Then, Ezekiel’s temple will be the forever temple of God.
Ezekiel’s temple is a unique temple that is part of the new heavens and new earth.
The worship rules and regulations and temple design differ between the Law of Moses and Ezekiel’s temple. For example, the Daily sacrifice for the Law of Moses is 2 lambs. For Ezekiel’s temple, the Daily sacrifice is 1 lamb. For the Law of Moses, the Sabbath offering is 2 lambs; for Ezekiel’s temple, the Sabbath offering is 6 lambs and 1 ram. The New Moon offering for the Law of Moses is 2 bulls, 1 ram, and 7 lambs; for Ezekiel’s temple, it is 1 bull, 1 ram, and 6 lambs.
The temple equipment and designs are completely different. In Ezekiel’s temple, there is no Table of Showbread, no Golden Lampstand, no Altar of incense, no veil, and no Ark of the Covenant. The sacrificial Altar will be approached by a ramp from the east. Previously, all altars were approached from the south. The inner gates along with the Holy Place and Most Holies of Holies forms guess what? A cross!
The Temple of Ezekiel is the eternal Temple of God going forward for all time to come:
13 Thou shalt daily prepare a burnt offering unto the Lord of a lamb of the first year without blemish: thou shalt prepare it every morning.
14 And thou shalt prepare a meat offering for it every morning, the sixth part of an ephah, and the third part of an hin of oil, to temper with the fine flour; a meat offering continually by a perpetual ordinance unto the Lord.
15 Thus shall they prepare the lamb, and the meat offering, and the oil, every morning for a continual burnt offering.
—Ezekiel 46:13-15
You can tie Ezekiel’s temple together with the new heavens and new earth by comparing Ezekiel 47:12 with Revelation 22:2.
AM123
The Old Covenant has nothing to do with what you are talking about. Breaking or transgressing the 10 Commandments is sin. Period. I John 3: 4.
That has nothing to do with sin offerings or temple worship. sin offerings etc were added due to transgressions.
You are confusing the “works” of the law with the Law. Two different things, Christ has done away with the “works’ of the Law, not the 10 Commandments.
The Old Contract is found in Exodus 20, 21, 22, 23: The 10 commandments are in chapter 2:, chapters 21 and 22 are The Judgments with chapter 23 holding a few more judgments and the Sabbath day, the 7 Holy Days, 7th year rest of the land and tithing.
That is the covenant that Israel agreed to, then in 23: 22 God reveals His part of the contract. In chapter 24: 7 Moses read the book of the Covenant to the people and they said we will do, we agree.
I am really not sure what it is you believe but I am stating the Commandments of God are Eternal.
And as I write this the market is crashing,
You said:
“I am really not sure what it is you believe…”
I guess that makes us even because I’m not sure what you believe.
For you stated:
“Verse 13 is the scripture that confuses the majority of people. It has been believed and stated by many that the Law of Moses is growing old and is soon to vanish!
Nothing could be further from the truth! To fully understand one must also understand what a contract is and how it works.”
And in your comment above you stated:
“You are confusing the “works” of the law with the Law. Two different things, Christ has done away with the “works’ of the Law, not the 10 Commandments.”
So on one hand, you seem to say that the Law of Moses will not be done away, but then in your comment above you state the “works” of the Law are done away with.
What makes it confusing is you seem to equate the “Law” with the 10 Commandments and not the Law of Moses. Why not say 10 Commandments when you mean the 10 Commandments and say the Law when you mean the Law of Moses? But then again, are not the 10 Commandments a subset of the Law of Moses?
To be clear, what do you say about chapter 25 through chapter 30 of Exodus? These rules and regulations are not eternal, but only apply to this present heavens and earth and will be replaced with Ezekiel’s temple and rules and regulations as I have outlined in my comment above, correct?
am
Let me state it another way, if what you are calling the law of Moses are the sacrifices, the offering, the washing ect which I call the “works of the law”, then we agree, But if you are saying the Law of Moses was part of the Covenant we disagree. What you call the law of moses was added because of transgressions. It is not in the book of the Covenant.
What verse 7 and 13 refer to is the covenant, which has nothing to do with what you call the law of Moses. The Covenant was flaunted in that one party could not hold up their end of the contract.
In the new testament the majority of the time when term “the Law” is used it speaks of the 10 commandments.
I just caught the part about the 10 being part of the Law of Moses, It is absolutely not part of what you call the law of Moses. Please read, Chapter 20 gives the 10 Commandments that is what God said if you transgress I will punish you,,,, not the washings, the oblation, the animal sacrifices,
When you say the law will eventually vanish, I would believe most would think you are talking about the 10 Commandments, if you do think they will vanish, then you have not understood the Bible nor any of the logic use to prove they can not vanish.
AM
I just thought of another way to show the 10 Commandments are not a subset of the Law of Moses.
What was written on the Two tablets of stone? It was not the law of Moses, it was God’s Law.
The Law was written by the finger of God on two tablets, and is God’s Law! which had existed before the creation. That is the Law use in the Old Covenant. The law of Moses came later and Moses wrote that law with his fingers.
Exodus 25-30 Are not part of the Covenant, they foreshadow many things such as the coming spiritual temple of God.
In Ex 31:18 it says “And He gave Moses when He had made and end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, Two tables of testimony, tables of stone written with the finger of God”
If you will look in Strong’s, testimony is also “witness”. The 10 Commandments are God’s witness against us, that mankind has refused to keep from Adam on.
In Revelation 12: 17 “And the dragon was wroth with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed which keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ’.
The woman is God’s Church and these are keeping the Commandment of God
not the law of Moses!
and notice they have the testimony of Jesus Christ — the two stones are the two tables of testimony. Rephrased: the Saints of God are keeping the Commandments of God which is the witness against the dragon. He will be judged by the Witness or testimony of Jesus Christ, by the Law of GOD.
Truthseeker,
When I refer to the law of Moses, I mean it just as it is referred to in both the Old Testament and New Testament:
“And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses,”
—1 Kings 2:3
“Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the Lord by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the Lord, to offer the burnt offerings of the Lord, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as it was ordained by David.”
—2 Chronicles 23:18
“And they stood in their place after their manner, according to the law of Moses the man of God: the priests sprinkled the blood, which they received of the hand of the Levites.”
—2 Chronicles 30:16
“Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.”
— Ezra 3:2
31 As Moses the servant of the LORD commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of whole stones, over which no man hath lift up any iron: and they offered thereon burnt offerings unto the LORD, and sacrificed peace offerings.
32 And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel.
—Joshua 8:31-32
“And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;”
— Luke 2:22
Truthseeker,
The 10 commands are indeed a subset of the law of Moses, for honoring the Sabbath is one of the 10 Commandments of course and Jesus Himself called this commandment part of the law of Moses:
21 Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.
22 Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.
23 If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?
—John 7:21-23
Another point:
With Jesus came a change in the law:
“For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.”
—Hebrews 7:12
The reason there are 4000 plus churches is shown through the exercise we just finished.
on top of the 4000 add the sub sets and it is mass confusion.
Let me work on this and I will get back to you, I think I know now what you are saying, I will try to clear this up.
oops, I just read the piece above, I had a few mistakes. sorry I corrected them, it is late I will proof it again tomorrow. I see why you were a little confused.
I can offer a little bit more insight. Check out my blog, and more specifically my article on Hebrews 7. http://eklektostouyahweh.wordpress.com/2013/10/14/the-law-that-changed/
