Out of the Box Puzzle Game Opens

June 29, 2015 (MMD Newswire) — Out of the Box, a new twist on the increasingly popular room-escape game concept, is now accepting reservations for puzzle-based performances. In the course of an hour and twenty minutes, players will explore over 2,00 SF of puzzle sets while interacting with improv actors. Rather than being confined to one room, players are taken from one puzzle to the next by a “guide,” who assumes a variety of outlandish characters throughout the performance.

Acting as one of the primary guides is the company’s founder and “Chief Puzzle Master,” Joshua Sellers, who is combining his childhood love of all-things-puzzles with “a chance to really play, on an intellectual level, with other playful adults,” he says. “I love a fun room escape game but I don’t think that’s the only thing that can be created in the realm of puzzle-based entertainment. What we’re doing is more theatrical.”

Players at Out of the Box will encounter such characters as the Puzzle Hop, whose peculiar stash of clues can only be out-done by his bizarre accent, or the Librarian, who is exceedingly gifted with cyphers and cryptic messages when she’s not fussing about an over-due book. Puzzle elements will include riddles from the Wizard, clues hidden in blacklight rooms, a hallway filled with lock-boxes, and on occasion, an actual jigsaw puzzle.

Three performances are available Wednesday to Friday (6 PM, 7:30 PM and 9 PM) and five performances are available on weekends (3 PM, 4:30 PM, 6 PM, 7:30 PM and 9 PM). Tickets are $22 and sold at the door but reservations are required with at least 24-hour notice. Out of the Box is also available for buy-out events throughout the week.
