Jim Acosta Tells Ironically-Named ‘Reliable Sources’ He Regrets the News Media Isn’t More United Against Trump

Jelly is a condiment in need of peanut butter. Grilled cheese is a sandwich in need of tomato soup. Jim Acosta is a man in need of a dictionary.

The microphoned mischief-maker who’s clearly never been introduced to the meaning of “reporter” — that being someone who solely relays inarguable facts — appeared on CNN’s ironically-named Reliable Sources (here, here, here, and here) Sunday to remind everyone why he’s in desperate need of a new title.

One of his messages: The media needs to be more hostile to President Trump.

Host Brian Stelter asked the left-wing pundit if he has any regrets. Apparently, he wishes the news media would put even more focus on not being the news media:

“Do I have any regrets? You know, I wish at times that the press had been a bit more in solidarity with one another. And standing up to this White House and saying listen, ‘You know, the President can’t call us the enemy of the people. We’re not going to go along with that.’ I think we’ve missed some opportunities here and there to challenge that.”

He’s on a mission unrelated to news:

“[The situation with Trump] sort of makes the 4th estate — the press — really the check on a presidency that sometimes goes outside the bounds of normal presidential behavior.”

I pine for the days of Walter Cronchite. Or any other boring mouth opening and stating just the facts.

Jim is — it should be noted — doubtlessly a large contributor to the President’s negative view of the mainstream media in general and CNN in particular.

He’s declared war himself — on professionalism in reporting. Just see here:

Inadvertently declaring the continuing death of actual news, Jim challenged the entire concept of such an organization:

“We’re not just here to report the news. We’re here also to defend the truth.”

When asked why he wrote it, he explained to Brian thusly:

“I did not want my children to grow up in a country where the press is called the enemy of the people.”

Dude. You are the reason people say that. 

Please, CNN — just give Jim his own show. He’s a pundit, and that’s okay. Let him pundit his pants full. Without the label of “White House Senior Correspondent.”
