Sunday Respite – Autumn Equinox (Mabon) ‘She is dying’
On Saturday the Autumn Equinox took place. Many cultures celebrate this event and have for centuries, by many names. Some call it Mabon.
The Autumnal Equinox. Mother Earth gives up her bounty to us and goes into her slumber to rest.
The Autumn Equinox divides the day and night equally, and we take a moment to pay our respects to the impending dark. We also give thanks to the waning sunlight, as we store our harvest of this year’s crops.
On Saturday, September 22, both the Northern and Southern hemispheres experienced an equal amount of daylight. For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, it marks the beginning of fall, with daylight hours continuing to shorten until the winter solstice in December.
The wheel keeps turning. Birth Death and Rebirth. For my respite I give you this. The song is by Clannad, sung in Gaelic, in the Donegal dialect. Have a wonderful day. You may prefer to view this in full screen.
