Denmark Admits We Messed Up

DENMARK SAYS NO: Mikkel Andersson and Niels Jespersen call mass migration into Denmark a ‘failed experiment’ and says the country would be better off without it. In their newly published book, The Experiment That Failed, the authors argue that non-Western immigration has a bad effect on the country, making it more polarised and less secure.

In 35 years, the number of non-Western migrants has multiplied ten times, from 60,000 in 1983, to 500,000 in 2018. Andersson and Jespersen say that the effects of the group on Denmark’s society of 5.6 million people are negative.

Without mass migration Denmark would be better off and have less crime, the authors argue. Now there are gang wars, parallel societies, and youths terrorising neighbourhoods. In the meantime, non-Western immigration brings tremendous costs for Danish society: DKK 30 billion, almost 4bn euros per year.

ESTONIA SAYS NO: Meanwhile, hot on the heels of Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, and Bulgaria, Estonia has given the finger to the UN migration pact.  Estonia is the fifth EU state to exit the UN migration pact. Previously, Hungary had already rejected the agreement. A little later, Austria, Czech Republic, and Bulgaria withdrew from the pact.

“In forming the governing coalition, we agreed that we make decisions only by consensus. The government has today failed to reach agreement at the Cabinet meeting on support for the UN migration pact. Therefore, the government will not join the agreement,” wrote Prime Minister Jüri Ratas (Center Party) on Thursday.

POLAND SAYS NO: Poland has publicly stated that they are likely to shun the UN migration pact. The list of countries walking away from the potentially disastrous Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration is growing.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said during a news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Warsaw on Friday: “It is very likely that we will not be part of the global pact,”

The pact was approved in July by all 193 UN member nations with the exception of the United States, who backed out last year.

CROATIA SAYS NO: Yesterday Croatian news portal Direktno reported that their country will not sign the migration pact as well. ‘Be assured I will not sign the ‘Marrakesh Agreement,” says Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic.

KOREA SAYS NO: On the other side of the world, South Koreans are horrified by the fate that has befallen Western Europe. Around 520,000 South Koreans have signed a petition against their government’s refugee-friendly migration policy. Most of them are worried about Muslim refugees from Yemen and economic exploitation by migrants.

“It has become really bad in recent weeks and it is all because Jeju introduced a program that enabled people from 186 countries to come here without a tourist visa,” says Hank Kim, owner of the Core Travel Agency. “Local people here are worried, we have all read about the problems that immigrants have caused in Europe, in Germany and France in particular, and we do not want that to happen here.”

There was also a protest in Seoul’s City Hall against the visa-waiver program in which hundreds of people participated. “We urge the government to put Korean citizens before refugees,” a rally organiser says. “We should not accept foreigners who try to exploit the policy as a means of seeking economic interests and dodging the draft in their countries,” he adds.

Hank Kim, the travel agency owner says: “We are also worried because of their religion. We have had no contact with Muslim people before, but we know that they all have big families and they bring their own culture instead of trying to adapt to the place where they live.”

The unrest was caused by 1,000 Yemeni refugees using the visa programme to enter South Korea’s Jeju resort island.
