Fracking Study Proves Chemicals Are Producing Out Of Control Underground Bacterial Growth.

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

I’ve been saying for a long time that fracking methods use bacteria that assimilates oil, and poops CO2 to pressurize wells and force pockets of oil and gas out. The problem is, the bacteria doesn’t always die, and is growing underground, out of control, reaking havoc on our unseen, yet critical water reserves.

The Ohio State study was able to take place only through a collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) in Pittsburgh. NETL is working with industry to study fracking technologies and provided Mouser’s team with water samples donated by an unnamed shale gas operation.

When it comes to energy extraction, tiny microbes play a huge role, Mouser said.

As it happens, the chemicals that companies pump into the ground along with water to help fracture shale and release petroleum contain carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorous—in chemical formulations that microbes like to eat. So, left unchecked, the microbes in a fracking well can grow and reproduce out of control

Hmm, what really thrives on Carbon, Nitrogen and Phosphorous?

Changes in the ratio of nitrogen to phosphorus (N: P ratio) can affect algal species composition within a given lake. Some species of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) have a competitive advantage over other algae by having the ability to fix nitrogen, whereas other types of algae cannot. Nitrogen fixation is the process of converting unusable nitrogen (atmospheric nitrogen) into usable nitrogen (ammonia). This characteristic allows these species to exist in areas where low nitrogen availability inhibits growth. Therefore, under phosphorus-rich conditions, when nitrogen may be limited, blue-green cyanobacteria algae have a competitive advantage because they can utilize (“fix”) nitrogen directly.

Cyanobacteria can also successfully compete against other groups of such as green algae and diatoms because they can store phosphorus for later use, and are not preferred as food by zooplankton (microscopic animals), larval fish and other animals that graze on many kinds of algae.

In fresh water systems, many blooms are due to members of the cyanobacteria family. They can grow so profusely that they can impart an objectionable odor, taste, and appearance to the water. Many of these cyanobacteria release toxins into the water, causing health concerns in both animals and humans

What is taking over waterways and killing fish and other aquatic related species worldwide?

Now we have an “epidemic” in Hawaii…cyanobacteria killing coral, fish, turtles…remember the seals and polar bears? Still no final results from rad testing…

USGS: Rapidly-spreading disease in Hawaii coral — New strain of cyanobacteria blamed — Fish with lesions, turtles having problems — Big concern whether infectious to humans — “Truly an unusual event”

Cyanobacteria are abundant in the aquatic environment of Bangladesh and it was established that V. cholerae maintain a symbiotic relationship with these algae particularly mucilaginous cyanobacteria. During epidemics, patients symptoms included diarrhea, vomiting and hemorrhagic enteritis and in severe cases hemorrhagic diarrhea. So, question has arisen that which is responsible, microcystins or cholera for death of cholera/diarrhea patients in Bangladesh. Future research should be directed to isolate microcystins and cholera toxins from the epidemic areas to clarify the fact.

There are many, many more, just google MEOR (Microbial Enhance Oil Recovery) and find out for yourselves.
