If you were hoping to flog any of your old golf clubs today, or go shopping for some discount clothing, you’re all out of luck. That’s because millions of eBay users in the UK and worldwide are unable to use the website, according to Downdetector.co.uk. A handful of other websites, including Amazon, Autotrader and LinkedIn appear to be also affected in the UK.
Today’s site downtime marks the tenth time that the website has been unavailable to users this year, and is the largest outage so far. Some users have also reported problems accessing PayPal, which is owned by the online auction giant, although it appeared to be up at the time of writing.
“We are investigating reports that certain eBay features are intermittently unavailable or slow and we apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the company said in a statement. eBay has promised to provide more information soon.
Some users have also reported that they are able to access the site over the 3G and 4G mobile data networks, but not over broadband, suggesting some kind of backbone problem.
The US govt is after sites like eBay, they can’t control them enough, in the new Nanny State of the NWO.
Plus, there are documents, books that get listed on eBay that the US govt and their secrets don’t want seen.
Court actions against FedEx and Silk Road would have closed eBay
The closure of Silk Road, the seizure and disposal of the Bitcoin assets, and the ongoing criminal charges against Ross William Ulbricht, the alleged owner, is potentially hugely damaging to all legitimate online businesses. These actions are indicative of a frightening lack of understanding of the nature of a state and the powers that it is and isn’t correct for a state to enforce.
Would the US have allowed eBay to continue post 1995 or would it have been subject to a closure and seizure from the US courts? What are the implications of this ‘Nanny State” governance? Could there be an anti-Bitcoin movement if bitcoins were used as an underlying technology in paying for illegal items? Further, what constitutes illegal items?
