My guess would be because after saying it’s coming next year since 1995, there’s not much more you can write about it.
Old News? Even old news would be preferable to this! The stats and arrival times for this object have changed so many times that it is now only a source of comic relief. All these people who are trying to out-do each other with the newest data don’t even realize that they are speaking to some fairly intelligent people who remember reading most of these supposed facts, and mentally compare them to each other and can see thru the scare scam as they differ so much from each other.
